COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

REBEL LED TRAINING AND CONSULTANCY CIC

Company Number: 15043821 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Rebel Led Training and Consultancy CIC has delivered a range of impactful, community-focused projects funded through local authority and charitable grants. These funds have enabled us to create inclusive, safe, and empowering spaces for marginalised groups, particularly Black communities, women, and young people. Using grant support, we have: Run creative and educational workshops, such as ‘Unsung Heroes’, a Black History Month arts programme funded by Southwark Council; wherein local children explored identity and the legacy of Black Britons through creative expression. Delivered empowerment sessions for girls and young women, including our ‘Taking Up Space. Making Room’ programme, funded through IWD initiatives, which engaged students and youth workers in conversations about gender equity and self-advocacy. Facilitated civic engagement, contributing to Black Britain’s Mandate, a national initiative supported by multiple organisations, helping Black communities develop policy priorities and build confidence in holding power to account. Led community consultation and cultural development, including The Black Culture Conversation in Southwark, where grant funding supported engagement with local residents to inform council policy and increase cultural representation. In addition to grant income, we have generated revenue through the delivery of consultancy services. Profits from this work have been reinvested into our social mission; specifically, funding the staffing and delivery of free workshops for young people. This approach ensures our commercial activity directly supports our grassroots objectives, allowing us to expand our reach and impact without placing financial barriers on participation. These initiatives have contributed to improved community cohesion, greater access to cultural and civic engagement, and increased opportunities for learning, empowerment, and leadership among marginalised groups.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the financial year 2023 for 2024, Rebel Led Training and Consultancy CIC consulted stakeholders primarily through project based engagement and internal governance structures: Directors' Meetings: As a project led organisation, we hold monthly directors’ meetings to review ongoing work, assess impact, and make strategic decisions. These meetings ensure our approach remains responsive to the needs of the communities we serve, and that lived experience continues to shape our delivery model. Black Culture Conversation (Southwark): We led a stakeholder consultation process with Black residents, cultural practitioners, and community leaders to explore how Southwark Council can better support Black culture. This feedback directly informed our recommendations to the local authority. Developing Black Britain’s Mandate: We co-hosted workshops and listening sessions with Black communities across London, gathering insight into their priorities on civic participation, education, health, and social justice. These contributions formed part of a national advocacy document to influence public policy. Youth and Community Workshops: In each of our youth facing projects, including Black History Month and International Women’s Day programmes, we incorporated participant feedback and reflective discussions to shape the content and ensure it remained accessible, relevant, and community led. Creative Health Evaluation: As part of our evaluation work with the GLA and NHS South East London ICB, we conducted interviews and facilitated collaborative sessions with stakeholders from the arts, health, and care sectors to co-develop a creative health framework grounded in practice.
