COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

IT TAKES A VILLAGE PLYMOUTH CIC

Company Number: 15580488 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

We have run 20 Family Stay & Play sessions and 13 workshops, providing families in the local community with high-quality, fun, educational, affordable/free, and accessible Steam (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths activities). These sessions have been attended by approximately 250 children and 150 adults. We have run 25 clothing swaps, giving our community access to good quality, affordable/free secondhand and new clothing for children and adults. Over 600 people have attended these sessions and approximately 5000 items of clothing have been swapped, many of which may have ended up in landfill. These sessions have helped people to deal with the effects of the cost of living crisis, enabling them to clothe their families at no cost, and reusing secondhand clothing is better for the environment.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our main stakeholders are families and individuals who live in Stonehouse and the wider Plymouth area. We have involved the community in a number of ways, including: 1. Online and paper surveys for adults 2. Simple paper surveys for children 3. Having a cup of tea and a chat with people at our events, to get their stories and better understand their experiences 4. Newsletters and social media We ask what people's experience has been, what works well and what could be better, and what activities they would like to see in the future. As a result of listening to our community we have made changes, like ensuring we have left-handed scissors; we've introduced equipment and activities for younger children; we've improved how swap & shop sessions are set up and run; and we've introduced shorter, quieter stay & play sessions, with smaller groups, to better support children with SEND needs, who are neurodiverse or have sensory needs. Other stakeholders include local organisations that we work with , and who we for ask for their input and suggestions into the services we provide, how we could improve them, and future events they feel would benefit the community. These organisations like Nudge, Stonehouse Community Builders, Stonehouse Families Partnership, Plymouth Play Association Scrapstore, Plymouth Children's Book Group, local Children's Centres and Family Hubs.
