    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is recognised in line with the stage of the project. Grants are recognised under the accrual model meaning that grants relating to revenue shall be recognised in income on a systematic basis over the periods in which the entity recognises the related costs for which the grant is intended to compensate.

Company activities and impact

As a newly formed CIC we developed artistry, expanded our engagement practice and undertook organisational development. We created three new works to tour and engage new audiences, including a work for early years (ages 2-7 and their families), and a work made specifically for alternative locations and non dance audiences. Performances included: Enfield Estate, Brighton, Latitude Festival, Izmir, Turkey, Live Drawing Class at Helm, Charity Show, Brighton, Everybody Dance Festival, York , EartH Hackney & Dome with Afriquoi, Crew Club Whitehawk, Komedia, Living Room Library, South East Dance, Brighton Festival. Commissions/workshops for: Birmingham CAT, Wessex Dance, Uni of Chichester (2nd years and MAP Postgrad), INTOTO, Everybody Dance Festival, Three Score Dance, Community workshops in Turkey for those with little contemporary dance experience, Pro classes at Rambert, South East Dance and The Point, Laban CAT, Dance East CAT, Nottingham CAT, Rambert Playground. The Artistic Director and Executive Producer received a bursary from FABRIC International to attend Tanzmesse, Germany, an international marketplace and networking opportunity for dance. Two new works were commissioned for Brighton Festival and supported by South East Dance, Dance East and The Studio. evim [my home], a new early years work for children aged 2-7 and their families, was created, previewed and promoted with wide engagement from diverse audiences. A new collaborative practice was established between lead creatives combining their strengths and enabled them to expand practice in new areas. Collaborators and consultants contributed to creating an accessible, interactive and enjoyable work for young audiences and their families. The production week was hosted by South East Dance and the industry preview with invited family audience, plus a livestream successfully promoted the work to venues. Subsequent bookings for Brighton Festival, Half Moon theatre, artsdepot and Grand Junction with many more in conversation. Working with Komedia Productions and Enfield Council successfully reached target audiences with a focus on non-arts audiences and those in hard to reach areas. Workshops and sharings in community settings shaped the work and interactive elements. Families and partners gave feedback at every stage. Working with South East Dance for an industry sharing and pitch to the Theatre for Young Audiences network has resulted in future bookings for the work. Our performances and workshops were well received by partners, participants and audiences, and we’ve seen an increase in demand for our work. Number of people reached in our first accounting period: Audiences: 5700 Participants: 1000 Creatives: 135 Online engagement: 180K+ We have a non-exclusion policy that no person should be unable to participate due to their financial situation or background. We developed a Co-Leadership model for our female-led organisation between Artistic Director and Executive Producer. We strengthened our governance, appointing two Non-Executive Directors and four Advisory board members with a range of skills, expertise and backgrounds. We continue to review and improve robust organisational policies in consultation with the board. A have strengthened our Vision, Mission and Objectives with a clear plan for 2025/26 and a three-year strategic plan is in development.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Companys stakeholders are the partners, collaborating artists, audiences, participants and grant funders. The stakeholders feed into the projects and process at every stage. We improve access to culture for underserved communities, creating connection in communities and improving wellbeing through participation in dance. Our focus is on empowering young women and girls, and reaching refugee and migrant communities. Key stakeholders (audiences, participants and creatives) inform all activities. Partnership with community groups such as Network of International Women shape our work for and with female migrants and refugees. Surveys with audiences and participant focus groups collate community priorities and needs to feed into activities. Projects involve expert consultants in access for children with SEND and English as a Second Language, and migrant and or refugee communities. Working with local leading arts orgs (Komedia Kids and South East Dance) maximise engagement with groups experiencing barriers to access. Workshops and sharings reach groups with disproportionately low engagement in arts, testing accessibility for a range of people and those with limited experience of cultural activities. Verbal and written surveys provide feedback from a range of individuals in the community- PARTNERS DanceEast has been building a relationship with Ceyda Tanc Dance, including a successful collaboration during the summer of 2024. This included a well-received performance at Latitude Festival, where the companys distinctive style was well received by audiences - Lucy Bayliss, DanceEast (new partner). Ceydas sessions value the cultural dance heritages the women bring with them. Many women come from war-torn countries, or are living isolated lives as migrants in Brighton, but bringing them together to dance has huge therapeutic value. The sessions provide a safe environment they understand some of the issues the women might have, and they work with them sympathetically and with empathy. (Cathy Maxwell, NIW Trustee) Working with Ceyda Tanc and Fideri Fidera supporting the audience development element of their show Evim (My Home) has been a fantastic experience. It is a joy to work with such like minded companies bringing beautiful and accessible dance to young children and families who may not have experienced performances like this before. So much thought and care goes into every aspect of the process and the end result is just magical. It gives a real sense of connection and allows children the freedom of interacting in live performance. (Charlotte, Komedia Productions) PARTICIPANTS It can get a bit dull living around here but today has really boosted my morale This is much more fun than going to the gym - Participant. It was such a lovely and enriching morning, Ioved learning about everyones cultural dance styles from their countries, and then ending the session all sharing food from around the world - Dancer YOUNG DANCERS As a young choreographer, CTD has been an incredible source of support for me and my dance collective. Ceyda has generously provided rehearsal space in kind, choreographic & business mentorship, networking and performance opportunities, incl. Brighton Fringe Festival. AUDIENCES The music caught my attention, but it was the performance that held me transfixed for the next half hour - powerful, graceful and perfectly communicating the theme. There is so much personality in your choreography. Certainly the highlight of the festival for me. As a Turkish woman, I love how you represent our culture and dance style. I came to see you last year and was so excited to see that you were performing again this year! I loved how the dancers interacted with the children to make them feel comfortable enough to participate later in the dancing! I loved seeing my children communicate with the performers entirely through movement and dance- no words needed, beautiful and moving. A gentle and beautiful experience for my daughter and I. The invitation to take a step into the piece was thoughtfully done, meaning there was no pressure to participate, but the welcome was enticing and proved a magical experience. It was lovely to see how much effort the dancers made with each of the children no matter their age or how capable they were to join in. Mesmerising. Calming. Engaging. Grant Funders Final reports are submitted to the funders with confirmation on how the funds have been spent and on what projects.
