Company activities and impact

Silver Screen Community Films CIC was established to build upon the success of a grassroots community film project originally launched in 2022. Our primary mission is to bring together residents of Wythenshawe, Manchester, through the collaborative process of filmmaking - encouraging creativity, skill-building and community cohesion. During the 2023-2024 financial year, our focus shifted to the post-production phase of the film which included editing, audio mixing, soundtrack composition and visual effects. Alongside this work, we continued active fundraising efforts and began planning a large-scale community premiere event for late September 2024. We also maintained a regular programme of free filmmaking workshops, open to all Wythenshawe residents. Theses sessions have been instrumental in helping local participants gain new skills, build confidence and connect with one another creatively.

Consultation with stakeholders

We value transparency and collaboration with our community. To ensure our activities align with local needs and aspirations, we continued to dialogue on a regular basis with local residents, volunteers, and participants involved in the project, providing valuable input into both the content of the film and the structure of future workshops and events. We’ve also been actively meeting with and building relationships with local councillors, council-run organisations, charities and community groups working in the area to discuss how together e can best serve local residents.

Directors' remuneration

During the reporting period: Mike and Rebecca Peacock, Directors of the CIC, received payment for professional services related to editing and administration of the project. These payments were in accordance with our governing documents, approved by the Board, and duly minuted. No other directors or connected persons received any financial benefit. This remuneration complies fully with our Articles of Association and CIC regulations.
