Company activities and impact

Over the past year, We Power On has continued to support men’s mental health through weekly Walk & Talk events across Epsom and the wider Surrey area. These informal group walks provide a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space for men to open up about mental health struggles, life challenges, and emotional wellbeing. By creating these consistent and accessible opportunities for connection, we are actively working to reduce loneliness, social isolation, and the risk of suicide. Our community has grown significantly, with up to 18 people attending regularly. In addition to our weekly walks, we now host a monthly social night out designed specifically to support men who are isolated or disconnected from regular social circles. We have also launched a weekly live podcast, streamed every Monday evening, to share real lived experiences and promote wider awareness of mental health issues. The podcast has helped extend our message beyond our local community, creating further impact. We’ve collaborated with our local council on various community projects, involving men from We Power On and encouraging civic participation. Several of our members have also completed mental health first aid training, and some have gone on to complete counselling courses, deepening the group’s ability to support one another more meaningfully. This year, we were proud to receive funding from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). These funds have supported the purchase of a branded pop-up stand, banners, printed materials, website upkeep, and subscriptions all of which help us maintain visibility and a consistent presence in the local area. Our work has also gained wider recognition. We were featured by the BBC, where we received a Bravery Award, and mentioned in What’s Your Dream? by Simon Squibb. Additionally, I have recently become a Mental Health Ambassador for HelpBnk, a global network supporting entrepreneurs. Through all of these efforts, We Power On continues to demonstrate its commitment to suicide prevention, community connection, and promoting mental wellness for men.

Consultation with stakeholders

As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement, we regularly consult with our stakeholders to ensure our activities align with local needs and priorities. Our stakeholders include local residents, walk participants, community partners, and local authority representatives. This year, consultation took place through informal feedback at our weekly Walk & Talk events, follow-up conversations, and digital surveys shared via email and social media. Stakeholders consistently highlighted the importance of visibility, clear communication, and a welcoming environment for new participants. In response, we prioritised the purchase of a branded pop-up stand, banners, printed materials, and website maintenance to support these goals. We also engaged in discussions with Epsom & Ewell Borough Council regarding our local impact, and received valuable feedback that helped shape our funding application through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Their support and endorsement have reinforced our commitment to maintaining a strong and visible community presence.
