The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 October 2024
Additional information
Statement of directors' responsibilities The directors are responsible for preparing the report and accounts in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Company law requires the directors to prepare accounts for each financial year. Under that law, the directors have elected to prepare the accounts in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under company law the directors must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and of the profit or loss of the company for that period. In preparing these accounts, the directors are required to: - select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; - make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; - prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in business. The directors are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Small company provisions This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions relating to small companies within Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006.

Her organisation, We Are the Unheard is a Community Interest Company that is at the forefront of a transformative movement within the music industry, addressing the critical need for gender equity and diversity. With a focused mission to challenge the stark statistic of only 3% female producers in the UK's top 100, our organisation is driving meaningful change. Through strategic initiatives in education, collaboration, and advocacy, we are not merely aiming to alter statistics but to fundamentally reshape the landscape of the music community and are proud to be a Music Minds Matter Ally. WATU are renowned for taking action and physically implementing the changes we set out to achieve. We strive to be a catalyst for positive social change, fostering inclusivity, understanding, support and equal opportunities. In the long term, we envision an industry where women, global majority, gender expansive creatives and those from socio-economic backgrounds, where every voice, especially those historically marginalised and overlooked, are supported in their challenges and are celebrated for their strengths, and where our collective efforts have created a more just, empathetic, and interconnected industry. WATU Academy: In September 2022, she launched the We Are The UNHEARD Academy, which is funded by PRS Foundation and PPL Giving and supported by major music industry entities like Ableton, Help Musicians, Flare Audio, BAPAM, BMG and Neumann. The We Are The UNHEARD Academy has created an inclusive and accessible learning environment, attracting a diverse group of participants: 40% non-binary individuals, 40% people of global majority, 30% mothers, 10% people with physical disabilities, and 30% neurodiverse people. Notably, 50% of the participants had never used Ableton before, highlighting the academy's role in making music production education accessible to those who might not have had prior opportunities. Mother’s Write:Mother’s Write is the UK’s first songwriting camp created specifically for mothers in music. Founded by Eve Horne, the programme was designed to address the real and ongoing financial, physical and emotional barriers that prevent mothers and freelancers from accessing creative opportunities in the music industry. Mother’s Write has been designed to pay the writers and producers who attend the 3-day camp, support them with travel and childcare. During the camp, participants get to: Collaborate with other mothers in music Create high-quality, release-ready material to pitch to labels (A&R/Sync) Receive peer-to-peer mentoring and career support from high profile writer mums Work in an inclusive, industry-level setting with childcare support By offering equity-based support including payment, practical help, and a community of care, Mother’s Write ensures that motherhood is not a barrier to artistic success, but a powerful part of the story. Turn It Up: Is a 4-day immersive sound engineering camp for Global Majority women and gender expansive creatives, providing ongoing support for them to enter into employment. In an industry where representation is paramount, We Are The Unheard and Black Lives in Music have united to create vital pipelines of opportunities for women and gender expansive sound engineers and producers. This groundbreaking collaboration is a testament to our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the music industry and changing the painful statistics: 71% HAVE EXPERIENCED RACIAL MICROAGGRESSIONS 63% HAVE EXPERIENCED DIRECT/INDIRECT RACISM 74% ARE DISSATISFIED WITH HOW THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SUPPORTS BLACK MUSIC CREATORS, COMPARED TO JUST 8% WHO ARE SATISFIED BEING BLACK IN THE UK MUSIC INDUSTRY REPORT 2021 Through a week long program, creatives from diverse backgrounds and experience levels will converge, guided by the best producers and engineers, to amplify their voices and hone their craft. This initiative goes beyond creating opportunities; it's about transforming the landscape of the music industry to reflect the richness of all of its creative contributors.
