Company activities and impact

The Company has been open for business since January 2017. During its 6th financial year the Centre has benefitted both young people and adults in the community with various projects for either individuals or groups. Through funding, local schools have been able to refer young people with mental health issues and or additional support needs to Darcy’s to gain a qualification in building confidence while working with animals, increasing their confidence, improving communication and learning new skills. This has resulted in positive change for the young people involved including; decreasing panic attacks, more self belief, reducing anxiety, increased confidence, able to manage behaviour, learning how to socialise with others and re-engaging with education. We completed our 2nd year of our ICF project funded by the Health and Social Care Alliance allowing young people who are waiting on, or attending CAMHS to come to us and complete a qualification. We have been given funding to carry this on for another year. We received funding to run a project for adults through the Health & Wellbeing Fund. The income streams from private clients are still steadily increasing with even more referrals from Educational Psychologist, Social Work through Glasgow Virtual School. We have been successful in tendering for Embedded Mental Health & Wellbeing in Schools, through Glasgow City Council. The local community and local businesses have had the opportunity to volunteer to be part of a rural community project, increasing their own sense of value and helping with building or planting projects. Through TUV we have planted various trees and many hedgerows on site. We invited Dementia Groups to visit us during the summer and at Christmas and they had a party with dancing, singing and presents. We also had an afternoon for those who had been bereaved to visit. Darcy’s is still allowing volunteer opportunities to individuals and private companies

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are all ages and come from many disadvantaged groups living in the community. Based on outcomes we have been able to take the concept of Equine Assisted Learning forward to grant holders, community funders and private individuals. The Directors all live in the local community
