Sustainable Wymondham have continued to engage with the residents and businesses of Wymondham through the last year. Stalls were held during Great Big Green Week to set out the waste hierarchy to encourage reduced material consumption rather than relying on recycling. We teamed up with the South Norfolk Council waste team to hold a recycling event at Wymondham Rugby Club to understand what can be recycled and how we ensure they are. We joined a Community Energy event in Norwich to look at retrofitting and alternative energy sources. Following a link up with the Reclaim the Rain project, we have worked with local businesses to understand how rainwater capture could be implemented to both slow rainfall to the sewage network and reduce the need for mains water usage. The group have provided input to the Wymondham Public Realm project to ensure the impact and mitigation of Climate Change is always considered. We have continued to co-produce our Strategy which will inform our Action Plan. We meet monthly and engage with the wider group and beyond through our website and social media.
Our stakeholders are the residents, visitors and businesses of Wymondham. We have held regular events to engage with the public to ensure their views drive our strategy. We have also engaged with businesses on energy use, recycling and rainwater capture. As the group was formed under the direction of Wymondham Town Council following their Climate Emergency declaration, we provide regular feedback on the group's progress at full council meetings and welcome their input.
