Company activities and impact

In the financial year, Davren Community Solutions has delivered a range of impactful activities that have significantly benefited the community, with a special focus on supporting the Roma population in Halifax as well as in West Yorkshire. These efforts have promoted inclusion, cultural celebrations, education and practical support. Here is the summary of the key outcomes: Social inclusion and community building: Celebration of International Roma day as well as summer BBQ: These events provided a welcoming, relaxed environment for people of different backgrounds to come together, socialize and strengthen community ties. It promoted social cohesion and reduced isolation, particularly for vulnerable families. Furthermore, it helped raise awareness of the Roma community. Support with bureaucracy and essential services: Many Roma community members face language and literacy barriers. By offering practical support with filling out application forms (e.g. housing, benefits, school admisions, doctors), we empowered individuals to access vital services and rights. Embassy visit: By arranging for the embassy to visit our community centre in Halifax and stay with us for 3 full days, we removed a major barrier for Roma individuals who could not travel to London. This ensured they ould maintain legal documentation and access essential services. By having Slovak embassy at our community centre, we prioritised those that had health conditions, disabilities, that were homeless and couldn't get to London to renew their passports. We helped more than 150 individuals in 3 days. Health education and awareness: By organising NHS forum with the school of Hygiene, we targeted this event on the Roma community to educated them about appropriate antibiotic use, helping combat misinformation and promote public health. It also improved trust and engagement between the community and healthcare providers. Education and language support: Esol classes for adults: We offer English classes for adults, many of whom are referred to us directly by Universal credit department. These classes help learners improve their language skills, boost confidence and become more independent in daily life. Improved English proficiency also enhances their employment prospects and ability to integrate into wider society. Youth engagement: Traditional Roma dance sessions: By promoting traditional Roma dance, these sessions fostered pride in cultural identity and encouraged intergenerational engagement in heritage. Music session: These sessions supported early childhood development, self-expression, and engagement through culturally relevant music activities. Football activities: Sport has been a powerful tool to keep young people active, build teamwork skills, and offer positive outlets during school holidays and weekends.
