About Windswept CIC Windswept CIC is a non-profit, community-focused watersports centre based in Pembrokeshire. Our mission is to make the incredible natural resources of the Pembrokeshire coastline accessible to all, particularly disadvantaged communities and individuals with disabilities. We offer a wide range of affordable, inclusive centre-based and outreach watersports sessions aimed at improving physical and mental wellbeing for people of all ages and backgrounds. Why We Exist Pembrokeshire is home to some of the UK’s most spectacular coastal environments, but many in the local community, especially young people and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, face significant barriers to accessing watersports. These include financial challenges, accessibility issues, and lack of tailored support for individuals with additional needs. Windswept CIC was founded to address these challenges, offering a supportive, affordable, and inclusive environment where the water becomes a space for growth, confidence, connection, and fun. Our Activities Core Watersports Provision Paddleboarding, Windsurfing & Wingfoiling Lessons and Hire: Open to both locals and tourists. All profits are reinvested into community programmes. Summer Tourism Operations: Seasonal services for visitors that help subsidise our community outreach. Community Clubs Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Club – Weekly sessions at a subsidised cost. Windsurf Club – Regular sessions for both children and adults. Paddle-Ability Sessions – Dedicated weekly sessions for people with disabilities, currently the only programme of its kind in South and West Wales. Inclusive Equipment & Infrastructure Accessible Paddleboard: In partnership with Cerebra Innovation Centre, we co-developed a bespoke Paddle-Ability SUP board, offering improved stability and usability for people with disabilities. Water Access Hoist: Installed on the Dale pontoon and funded by the National Lottery, the hoist supports safe water access for wheelchair users. It is available to other providers following training. Beach Wheelchair: Provided in collaboration with the National Park Authority, available for free public use at Dale Beach. Outreach & Educational Programmes Swim Safety and Water Confidence Sessions – Delivered to schools across the region. Outdoor Health Programmes – Supporting both children and adults in improving their mental and physical wellbeing. Youth Support Initiatives – Training and watersports experiences for young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Our Impact Increased Participation: Hundreds of local resident’s access watersports who would otherwise be unable to due to cost or accessibility. Enhanced Wellbeing: Participants report improvements in both physical health and mental wellbeing, as well as increased confidence and social connection. National Recognition: Our Paddle-Ability programme, co-developed with Cerebra, represents a pioneering step in adaptive watersports in Wales. Sustainable Model: By reinvesting profits from tourist services into community provision, we ensure year-round access and long-term sustainability
