| The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30th September 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019). |

| The Children’s Identity and Citizenship European Association is a Company Limited by Guarantee registered under the Companies Act 1985 at Companies House on 22 June 2007. The company is also a registered charity registered on 20 July 2007 under registration number 1120176. |
| OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
| Objectives and Aims |
| 1. To advance the education of the public, in particular but not exclusively those who work with children and young people in education and training in citizenship in a European and World context. |
| 2. To promote research in citizenship education and identities in a European and World context and to disseminate the useful results of such research for public benefit. |

| OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
| Principle Activities |
| In the year October 1st 2023 to September 30th 2024 we scheduled: |
| 1. Eighteen (18) Executive Committee on-line meetings: October 31st; November 15th ; January 11th ; February 1st , 2nd , 22nd; March 25th ; April 8th, 22nd; May 13th, 20th, 29th ; June 4th, 8th (x2), 15th; August 6th; September 18th; |
| 2. Continuing the appointment of six CiCea Executive Committee members and three CiCea members to the Steering Committee of the Charles University (Prague, CZ) project: Jean Monet Network Citizenship Education in the Context of European Values - The Educational Aspect CitEdEV and Working Group Leaders through the conclusion of the project in Spring of 2024; |
| 3. Continued exploring and identifying viable resource streams and Resource Projects during which time we worked on a COST proposal with Istanbul University and over 20 CiCea Institutional Members meetings online in February, March, April, May, June, August and September 2024; |
| 4. Work with the Malmo University to organize the 13th to 15th of June 2024 hybrid (online and onsite at Malmo University) Conference/Seminar; |
| 5. Continued cooperation on the Citizenship Teaching & Learning (Journal) with Intellect Publisher; |
| 6. Promoting the availability and use of the Association Research Centres by our members as a principal benefit of membership; |
| 7. Updating and maintaining the Association website for our members and the public; |
| 8. Enhancing and expanding the Association's social media presence (Facebook, Twitter & opening towards Instagram); |
| 9. A call for webinar applications sent out in October 2023, applications reviewed and chosen; applicant's contacted and thereafter, four webinar's scheduled during the reporting period: |
| a) Learning to Disagree (September 19th, 2023), |
| b) Developing Children's Agency within a Children's Rights Education Framework (October 24th, 2023), |
| c) Philosophy Education and Morality (November 15th , 2023) and |
| d) Storytelling in the Digital Age: Adapting vs creating. So, what's that all about? (February 21st, 2024); |
| 10. Initiated the search for and determination process for the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award winner who was announced at the Annual General Assembly meeting held on June 15th 2024. The 2023 awardee was Professor of History, Dr. Roger Johansson [PhD). |
| Dr. Roger Johansson, Professor of History, Malmö University, Faculty of Culture & Society/ Dept of Urban Studies/ Professor and chair in Educational Sciences, Lund University. Roger joined CiCe in 2003 in Braga Portugal and has been a member of CiCea since 2006. He has been a member of the Research Student Conference Teams and a participant at all of the CiCea conferences. He has lectured the doctoral students and was part of the CiCe Masters Program. His research has focused on history and subject didactics as well as on modern cultural analysis of social history. His particular foci is on how we use history to understand ourselves and our world, including the context of school and education. He pays particular attention to interpretation, communication, and formation of history. "We live not only in space but also in time." He has conducted research in the UK, the U.S. and Greenland. His books were published in English, Spanish, Arabic and French. |
| Furthermore, peace history and the use and ways to use local history have been important fields in his research and publications. School and education have been a major research interest. He has conducted and co-authored the National evaluation of the history of the 9th grade, written about textbooks in Sweden and the U.S. and heading research circles for scholars and teachers. |

| OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
| He is the director of a Doctoral school in Science and Science Communication and member of the board of the Doctoral school in Subject Didactics. He wrote about Malmö University's history in 2015 and 2022. Roger Johansson has also had an interest that has followed through the years for Teacher Education and school where he has, among other things, carried out and co-authored the National evaluation of history for grade 9, (together with Professor Lars Berggren) NU03 on behalf of the government/Skolverket. Since 2022, he is project owner and research leader |
| for a research project: Research on collaboration in teacher education (ROCIT) at Lund University, funded by the Swedish Research Council. Including 9 doctoral students doing research on how to build up a cooperation between academia, teacher education and school. He has also taken part in Sweden´s Broadcasting Radio's series on Events (in Sweden) that changed history Sweden's television series in 10 episodes The History of Sweden, episode 10 Sweden's National Labor Organization's educational series We build the country with two podcasts ; |
| 11. Fourteen (14) nominations received, no books were nominated and three awards were announced. Our 2023 Best Publication Awards were granted to: |

| 12. During the reporting period, a call for applicants for the CiCea Research Grant call for applicants was not announced due to technical issues. |
| 13. Elections and Appointments: |
| - No elections, per se, were held during the reporting period. |
| - Mr. Peter Cunningham was appointed Ad Hoc Member of the Executive Committee effective October 1st, 2023. |
| - Dr. Andrew Mycock was appointed to the Executive Committee as the Ad Hoc Engagement Officer effective October 1, 2023. |
| 14. Convened the hybrid Annual General Assembly meeting (both in-person and online via ZOOM) on June 15th, 2024 9:00-10:00 a.m. GMT +2; |
| 15. The Association in connection with membership continued advancing the Association's education and research commitment in the area of our objectives, through a series of Association supported publications, meetings, and the activities of various member institutions. |

| I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 30th September 2024. |
| Responsibilities and basis of report |
| As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act'). |
| Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried out under Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act'). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act. |
| Independent examiner's statement |
| I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe: |
| 1. | accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act; or |
| 2. | the accounts do not accord with those records; or |
| 3. | the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or |
| 4. | the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)). |

| Basis of preparing the financial statements |
| The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. |
| Income |
| All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. |
| Expenditure |
| Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. |
