PELOTON RUNNING COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 11985418 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 May 2025

Company activities and impact

Peloton Running CIC delivers three principal community-focused health and fitness initiatives, accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities, through the medium of running: Darth Minions : a programme designed for school-aged children to encourage early engagement with physical activity. Marathon de Gwyr: a multi-day running event aimed at adult runners seeking to push their endurance and capabilities. The Darth Mannion Beach & Swamp Run Challenge: an inclusive event specifically promoted to engage the 82% of the adult population identified as less physically active. Our flagship event, The Darth Mannion, is proudly supported by Wales Air Ambulance, a vital charity that provides advanced, lifesaving medical care across Wales. Entirely reliant on charitable donations, Wales Air Ambulance must raise £11.2 million annually to keep its helicopters and rapid response vehicles operational. Participants in The Darth Mannion are actively encouraged to raise funds in support of this crucial service. We are also supported by South Gower Rugby Football Club, based in Bishopston, which provides access to its playing fields and clubhouse for the event. In appreciation of this partnership, Peloton Running CIC donates to the club to aid the development of youth rugby in the local community. The Darth Mannion offers adult participants of all fitness levels the opportunity to undertake a challenging 13-mile run across some of the UK’s most stunning coastal landscapes. The event attracts a diverse range of participants from various socio-demographic backgrounds. It is structured to accommodate everyone from those new to fitness (e.g., 'Couch to 5K' participants) to experienced trail runners highlighting the physical and mental health benefits gained through training and participation. The event has had a wide-reaching impact on community health, inspiring many previously inactive adults to adopt regular exercise routines and make meaningful changes to their lifestyle. In its wake, new fitness groups have emerged, including women-only and older runners' groups, all motivated by the goal of completing The Darth. In recent years, the initiative has extended its focus to men in their 40s and 50s, recognising the proven benefits of outdoor group exercise in reducing stress and alleviating symptoms of depression. Beyond its health and wellness mission, The Darth Mannion contributes significantly to its community partners raising vital funds for Wales Air Ambulance and providing financial support to South Gower Rugby Football Club thereby reinforcing Peloton Running CIC’s commitment to sustainable community enrichment.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are varied and include many groups in addition to the participants who take part in our events each year. These groups include the wider team that help organise the events, the marshals and safety team that facilitate the running of each event, South Gower Rugby Football Club who host us, Wales Air Ambulance as our chosen charity, our sponsors and the wider community of Swansea and south Gower. Regular meetings are held with all of our principal stakeholders in the lead up to each event, with experience of previous events fed back to inform change. After each event we hold a thorough debrief meeting, considering feedback and reviews left by participants and our other stakeholders to ensure we have visibility on any improvements we can make to ensure future events offer the best experience possible.
