The company has been involved in a range of projects to: - Promote the development and use of high quality walking, cycling and active travel infrastructure within the Greater Manchester region; - Use the facilities available to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the Greater Manchester community; - Promote active travel options to all residents of Greater Manchester; and - Support and develop Bee Network and other submissions in conjunction with local WalkRide groups across the region. Specifically, the company has: - Organised regular member meetings to discuss the objectives above and influence public policy in the area of active transport. These were largely held in person during the year. - Co-ordinated local WalkRide groups through regular online meetings of representatives. - Promoted active travel through the media, primarily through press interviews but also through higher profile television and radio interviews. Influenced active transport policy in Manchester, working with TfGM and local authorities in Greater Manchester. Activity has been coordinated via the WalkRide mailing list, our website walkridegm.org.uk and a Discord discussion forum.
The CIC runs a Discord group for all members to discuss active travel issues across Greater Manchester and to organise activities in support of our aims. These discussions feed into our events and campaign activity.
