2 of the Directors at Ways for Wellbeing UK CIC are qualified Health and Wellbeing Coaches. Suriya Arblaster and Nabila Gardner – the 2 Directors are compensated as Freelance Health and Wellbeing Coaches. All other freelance workers are compensated monthly for the services provided. No Directors Renumeration has been received. Freelance coaches are in place to support provision as and when grant funding is secured to ensure continuity of service. Invoices are generated monthly and processed for payment at the end of the month for sessions delivered.

The company provides Health and Wellbeing Coaching to individuals struggling with low level mental health needs, those struggling with long term health conditions or working unwell individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, low mood, financial worries, cost of living crisis, long term pain management and long-term health conditions. This is provided through 1 to 1 personalised strengths-based coaching or through group activities carried out in various localities across the West Midlands. The company provides access to up to 12 sessions per individual who reaches out for support. Alongside this the organisation is able to provide 12 group sessions out in community settings across the West Midlands to adults and young people. The sessions are provided in order to improve the mental wellbeing and physical wellbeing of individuals. During the financial year 2023 to 2024, the organisation’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - local residents have been able to receive 12 sessions on a 1 to 1 basis from a Personalised Care Institute qualified Health and Wellbeing coach in community locations that are convenient to them. - Local community organisations have been utilised to host the organisation’s group workshops, ensuring that over 200 individuals can access provision through peer-to-peer support in local community centres they already attend – which are trusted sources of support and guidance. - The local Asian and Black Female community in Small Heath, Ward End, Sparkhill, Northfield, Hodge Hill, Selly Oak and Solihull have been able to receive targeted support, education and guidance over a 12 month period – this has been provided to 215 individuals. As a Coaching organisation we have delivered the following and continue to do so:- Over 4800 hours of 1 to 1 coaching to over 250 individuals over the last 2.5 years 156+ group coaching sessions in community settings - on behaviour change, developing healthy eating habits, sleep hygiene, mental health awareness and a range of other topics. Working with over 30 attendees at each group session - 4680 people reached over 2.5 years. Most recently we have delivered a coaching session to over 90 women in 1 session around International Womens Day - for a community partner. We continue to deliver coaching activities that are shaped by the people we are working with - ensuring we are delivering with not to.
The company’s stakeholders are residents of the West Midlands geography, and the other Directors; Suriya Arblaster, Matthew Gardner, John Jennings and Richard Mole and we work closely to shape the company’s vision, strategy and decision making. We have a monthly Board meeting, where we review finances, governance, health and safety, risk and 6 month projections to ensure planning is undertaken that can enable us to identify plans to continue provision. The Directors of the company have lived experience of the mental health determinants, physical health, long term disability and cultural disparity and have lived in the West Midlands for a number of years and developed the business model for the provision of services based on their experience and as a result of talking to individuals who have shared their negative experiences of mental health support provision and identified a gap of provision that was something those consulted wanted to see more of and have this provided to them locally. We continue to work in partnership with a number of other organisations including Arts Therapies UK, Bangladesh Womens Association, Redeemer Church, various network neighbourhood schemes across Birmingham, Solihull Local Authority, Birmingham City Council, BVSC, Greensquare Accord, Primary Care Networks, local schools and colleges and universities across Birmingham and Solihull and other third sector organisations working across the West Midlands. All our service users complete an initial assessment and a service user activation measure questionnaire. We also ask all users to complete a Wellbeing Measure (WemWebs) at the initial, mid and end point of their involvement with us. This helps us to build a profile of need for individuals so that our support can be personalised to their most prevalent need. This does help us to build up a profile of individuals needs and focus on their goals and motivations to ensure the involvement in our provision is more personal for them, enabling us to meet their needs more effectively. We carry out regular community focus group activities to ensure we are consulting with as wide a pool of individuals as possible – ensuring cultural, racial, age, ability and disability representation from our cohorts. As we are a person led provision this ensures continuous and ongoing community engagement and co-production of the delivery and engagement. We have monthly board meetings to ensure that we are able to take on board feedback from those consulted and shape our services accordingly. We also carry out consultation through surveys and questionnaires with local communities and seek input from the community on the effectiveness of our interventions, accessibility and overall satisfaction. This enables us to foster open dialogue with the community and our service users. Our research has enabled us to identify that there was a need for more individuals to learn about the 6 pillars of healthy lifestyle living and how these all support our overall positive physical and mental wellbeing. We were able to develop a series of 6 workshops that we deliver in community settings to inform and educate individuals about the 6 pillars of healthy lifestyle living, utilising their skills and knowledge to share tips with each other and learn from each other and build a peer to peer support network within their local community. Feedback from stakeholders has led to program refinements, for example we have provided fortnightly sessions where individuals have requested this, looked at how we can introduce online and telephone support for clients, delivered out in the community on days and at times that suit the needs of our user groups. We ensure the community spaces we deliver in are inclusive and fit for purpose. We ensure we explore transportation options to ensure participants can attend without barriers. Communication – Stakeholders have requested clear and timely communication about regular sessions and events. We provide updates via our social media pages including Instagram, Facebook and Linked in and have WhatsApp community groups set up for various sessions across the West Midlands, we have also provided telephone coaching to clients that are abroad to ensure continuity of service. We are committed to ongoing engagement and our stakeholder consultations drive continuous improvement, enhance accessibility and ensure our services align with our community needs. We are leading on the coordination of a Birmingham City-wide Disability Festival and during 2023-2024 financial year successfully delivered the first festival, this had over 600 attendees on the day. We carried out a series of feedback sessions with attendees to gain more understanding of what individuals in Birmingham want to see more of at a Disability Festival. Ways for Wellbeing UK co-design delivery of the workshops with participants to ensure it is meeting their needs. We are also involved in several research projects that ensures service users are able to provide insights into services that work or do not work and they are leading the provision design to ensure it meets their needs.
