SCHOOL WORK Circus Skills York CIC during its seventh year of operation has run events in and around the York area in 20 educational establishments. Out of these 20, 2 had the activities done for free. These events have enabled the pupils to experience a fresh approach to PE lessons, with a non-competitive environment in which to improve their physical fitness, co-ordination, ambidexterity, flexibility and reflexes whilst having fun. The events have also encouraged confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, communication, persistence and patience, and given them an appreciation of the creative arts and how STEM fits in. YOUTH WORK Circus Skills York CIC has also run circus skills workshop events in the York area for 22 youth groups, helping the members to improve their physical fitness, co-ordination, ambidexterity, flexibility and reflexes whilst having fun. They have also helped to provide additional activities for youth who might otherwise be out on the streets with nothing to do, and has including running 4 workshops for the refugee children. These have all be done at significant discount to the standard cost. FUNDRAISING WORK Circus Skills York CIC has supported 8 fund raising events for community groups or charities in order to help increase their fund raising revenue. COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORK Circus Skills York CIC has continued support many fund raising events for various organisations. We have continued to support the University of York circus society by helping to teach for free. We have started providing circus workshops in care homes to help provide fun activities that also help exercise the residents. This year we have worked with York Theatre Royal for the first time, helping to support their recent circus show. SUMMARY This year Circus Skills York CIC has continued to work across a wide range of ages and different communities, and has particularly enjoyed extending our work into Care Homes.
Circus Skills York CIC continues to request feedback from all clients and has received positive feedback from all. I have continued to have had the pleasure of a few associates working with me which has expanded the company’s experience of bringing fresh ideas. In the schools I attend on a regular basis I make every effort to spend a bit of time in the staff common room, so that teachers have opportunities to chat and discuss things as needed.
