For the year ending 30 June 2024 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

Company activities and impact

LIBITINA CIC was set up in 2023 in answer to both a National and Local Charity’s requests for innovative, community-based bereavement, end of life support and tackling ‘funeral poverty’ sessions to take place in the Colchester and Tendring areas. During 2023/24, LIBITINA CIC benefitted the community in the following ways: 4 x Creative Bereavement Events took place – December ’23 (Memory Bauble) in Brightlingsea; January’24 (Memory Tree) in St Osyth; February’24 (Heartfelt Moments) in Wivenhoe and March’24 (Sing their Songs) in Frinton-on-Sea. 4 x Roadshows/Q&A (a whistlestop tour of options available for a personalised funeral, coupled with a free Q & A session with a lawyer who specialises in End-of-Life admin) took place – December’23 in Brightlingsea; January’24 in St Osyth; February’24 in Wivenhoe and March’24 in Frinton-on-Sea. 1 x 6-week course (topical speakers each week incl. ambassador from St Helena Hospice; local family-run independent Funeral Director; talk on body & organ donation; Q & A session with a lawyer specialising in End-of-Life admin; talk on personalised funeral ceremonies and dispelling myths surrounding the funeral industry; manager of a local crematorium & cemetery) took place at Inclusion Ventures in Jaywick. Attendance at the Clacton Older Persons Fair which took place in the Princes Theatre, Clacton. Attendance at the Frinton W I Upcoming Events Fayre. Bi-monthly attendance and networking at the Tendring Older Persons Forum We were invited to host the premiere of the short film ‘The Impact of Covid on Dying, Death & Bereavement’ funded by Essex County Council and produced by South Woodham Ferrers Health & Social Care Group and two cubed. Creative. The premiere was held at the Headgate Theatre, Colchester on Tuesday 28th May 2024, and was subsequently shown at the national ‘Covid Inquiry’, invited guests included representatives from Colchester Catalyst, St Helena, Age Well East, Essex Healthwatch and participants who were in the film itself. Signposting individuals to organisations, charities and community support for bereavement, end-of-life and funeral planning.
