| Basis of preparing the financial statements |
| Turnover |
| Turnover represents the sale of property excluding value added tax. Turnover also includes ground rent and service charges received. |
| Property sales are recognised as turnover when contracts between the company and the buyer have been exchanged. Ground rent and service charges are recognised as turnover in the period to which they relate. |

| Work in progress includes costs incurred on projects that are ongoing. |
| Cost includes all direct expenditure on the projects. |
| Taxation |
| Taxation for the year comprises current tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. |
