Sunflowers is a newly registered C.I.C, set up to support children's Mental Health and Well being through Yoga and Yoga Therapy. Promoting reconnection with the body through movement and Breath. Offering both individual and group sessions of children's yoga and yoga therapy, with a qualified and fully insured Children's yoga teacher/Therapist. One of our courses is aimed at the children whose significant adult is having or will have treatment for cancer. The facilitator of the course is qualified in both child and adult mental health, as well as children's yoga and yoga therapy and is a Cancer survivor. With Statistics showing 1 in 2 people will be affected by Cancer, sunflowers aim to support the children of this population. The course structure includes 6 sessions, split into two parts, the first part delivering information and generating discussion around general Cancer Treatment and more importantly discussing the impact this may have on the relationship between the child and the cancer patient. Emotional support will be given to the children throughout the sessions. The second part of the sessions will be a group yoga therapy session, where children are invited to reconnect with their emotions and bodies through movement and breath. The children will learn to regulate and process their emotions and relax. The seventh session will include the cancer patient and child, using appropriate Theraplay techniques to support any ruptures in the relationship, as well as a restorative yoga session (where the adult and child relax together).
