Community Engagement - We created a digital community to organise meet ups and social events in different theatres across the UK, bringing together LGBTQIA+ women trans and non-binary people with an interest in theatre and performance to see and discuss shows. - We hosted a discussion group for artists, journalists, audiences, and workers to debate problems and challenges with Edinburgh Fringe, with a focus on the experiences, safety and wellbeing of women and LGBTQIA+ participants at the UK’s biggest arts festival. Artist Development - We developed a new format for networking events, using speed-dating style format for Queer women, trans and non-binary people working in the arts to meet peers, find solidarity, and connect with future creative collaborators, which we piloted at Edinburgh Fringe. - We held Meet-ups for women, trans and non-binary artists working in theatre &performing arts to connect with their peers informally in a social setting. Public awareness and promotion - We used social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, twitter/X, and TikTok) and our blog to promote the work of women, trans and non-binary theatre-makers. Our community benefited from our public awareness and promotional activity by having their work promoted (artists), and discovering shows to see (audiences). - We launched a sticker campaign at Edinburgh Fringe, promoting shows that passed the Bechdel test to theatregoers, with specific flags featuring the rainbow and trans flag to highlight LGBTQIA+ shows. Organisational Development - We wrote a theory of change and continued developing our visual identity to reflect our new activities, creating new “dykes to watch shows with” slogan which we printed on badges, stickers, badges, flags, and flyers to increase our visibility and enable us to continue reaching more community members who may benefit from our activities.
The company’s stakeholders are women, trans and non-binary people working in or with an interest in theatre and performance, especially those who are further minoritised due to LGBTQ+ identity, disability, neurodiversity, race, or ethnicity, both within the arts and culture sector and through theatre and performance activities. The directors of the company belong to key stakeholder demographic groups, and created the company to fill a gap in peer-support available in the performing arts sector. Informal consultation with our stakeholders consists of having an engaged presence across social media, a “contact us” form on our website and open messaging on all platforms where any stakeholder can contact us to give their feedback. In 2024 we began using WhatsApp as a means of directly staying in touch with participants in response to the changing social media landscape and demand from our community for more closed spaces to keep women, trans and non-binary people safer online. We survey all participants and attendees at all our events, and directly speak with most participants to note verbal feedback and suggestions, as well as written responses via anonymous forms.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £4067. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
