Cultural Freelancers CIC has a community membership of over 3,000 people, who engage regularly with the network. Since conception in November 2020 (constituted September 2021) we have managed to deliver 26 online and in-person events, asurvey to over 450 people, launch our Hold the Door Open commissions, program a scries of training and development for artists in Gateshead, program a national level event with Newcastle University, develop a building based partnership with Live Theatre which includes free of charge use of office spaces for freelancers, developed partnership with Northumberland Culture, Creative UK, North of Tyne Combined Authority and Newcastle Creates - the Culture Compact for Newcastle - as well as peer mentoring to over 300 artists.
The stakeholders of Cultural Freelancers CIC are the Cultural Freelance workforce in the North East of England and beyond. The majority of activity focused on community membership is hosted on a Facebook group, which holds over 2,800 members. Members are often canvassed in an informal and formal way - exploring what they need from wider sector support, training and networking; as well as hosting discussions about fair pay, terms and conditions, mental health and wellbeing, and other relevant topics.
