COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

RE(YOU)S C.I.C.

Company Number: 15143653 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 September 2024

Company activities and impact

RE(YOU)S CIC is a membership-based platform that increases access, choice, and dignity for individuals and families navigating long-term challenges such as financial hardship, limited mobility, and reduced access to goods and services. Our community-centred model operates through a token-based exchange system, allowing members to access resources, contribute what they can, and participate in events and activities without the barrier of cost. During the financial year, RE(YOU)S CIC’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: Over 50 individuals and families were able to access household items, clothing, and other essentials through our Online EX(CHANGE) platform using a token-based system that supports autonomy and removes stigma. Seasonal EX(CHANGE) events, such as RE(YOU)S Your Christmas, provided a joyful, family-friendly space where community members could access toys, decorations, winter wear, and small gifts, redistributing over 200 items that may have otherwise gone unused. We supported over 25 community volunteers, offering training, structure, and social connection. Many have gone on to access further opportunities in education, employment, or community leadership. Small and local businesses were able to plug into our RE(SOURCE) Hub and redirect surplus stock and services back into the community, preventing waste and building stronger local ties. The CIC facilitated the reuse of resources, contributing to a circular local economy while supporting those navigating economic barriers. Our token system enabled community members to both give and receive, shifting the dynamic from charity to shared responsibility and community wealth.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders include RE(YOU)S community members (individuals and families engaging with the EX(CHANGE), EM(POWER) membership, or RE(SOURCE) Hub), local businesses, volunteers, and referral partners across Coventry and surrounding areas. Our model has been shaped by continuous interaction and listening. The founding director has lived and worked in the local area and co-created RE(YOU)S through lived experience, community conversations, and direct engagement with individuals navigating long-term challenges. New members are invited to complete a brief onboarding process that helps us understand their needs, preferences, and access points, whether it’s support with essentials, contributing items, or building connections. This helps us shape the experience around real lives, not assumptions. We regularly hold space at community events and drop-ins to gather feedback from members and volunteers. We’ve also introduced optional check-ins during key moments of engagement, such as after a first order or event, and have recently onboarded two community outreach volunteers to engage and consult directly with groups and individuals, to better reflect the real journeys people take through RE(YOU)S. Through this, we’ve identified that many of our members have limited access to traditional support, often falling through gaps, and we’ve shaped our membership structure to reflect that. Feedback from business partners and volunteers has led to more flexible collaboration options, clearer communication tools, and intentional pathways for involvement based on capacity and energy, not just availability. RE(YOU)S is a responsive system, not static. Our members, volunteers, and partners don’t just participate; they shape what happens next.
