Company activities and impact

LISAS leisure Inclusive Social Activity Services CIC runs community social groups and outings for people over the age of 50 years old within North Kirklees. Our organisation is dedicated to enhancing well-being and inclusivity. The company has run as a CIC since March 2022. During the financial year 2024-25 the CIC has benefited the community in the following ways: - We currently run four social groups a week from three different locations -Members form deep, meaningful bonds as they navigate the challenges of aging and caregiving together, creating a shared sense of belonging and understanding. -The groups serve as hubs for for socialising and emotional support, empowering families to navigate dementia and aging with dignity, resilience and inclusivity. -All groups provide a range of different activities caring for a wide range of peoples interests from chair dancing, games, chair exercises, baking, crafts, quizzes and bingo. -Two of our groups are aimed at people living with dementia and their carers. This provides carers with a little respite and an opportunity to have support and social interaction with carers. -We currently have 47 members on our books and support 13 carers. -The team consists of 3 directors and 18 volunteers with the majority living locally. An increase of 6 in the year. All bring different skill sets with 3 volunteers being group leaders enabling them to run the groups, which in turn frees up time for one of the Directors to manage the day to day running of the organisation. -Our groups play a vital role in unlocking the full potential of individuals who through illness and aging have found themselves isolated, demotivated and in many cases depressed. We promote an inclusive enviroment with our groups empowering seniors to address challenges associated with aging and potential health issues before they escalate and members remain independent for longer. -We offer a loan service of books and jigsaws at all our groups as well as additional resources to loan to our dementia groups. -Activity puzzle sheets are available at all groups such as wordsearches, brain teasers etc for members to complete at the group or take home with them. -We have been on 6 outings, one of them being a trip to Southport and one was attending our local crown green bowling and playing bowls with the local community team. -We employ a multi-faceted strategy, we partner with communities, healthcare providers, and local authorities to ensure broad outreach and engagement. Carers Count attends our dementia groups once every other month to support our carers. -We have held a fund raising event where money was raised for ourself and Dementia UK engaging with the local community. -We are an inclusive organisation that supports members to attend our groups and outings by offering 1:1 volunteer support when needed. We currently have members with a variety of disabilities including sight loss, hearing impairment, mobility issues and mental health conditions. We adapt activities to include everyone for example providing large print quiz and bingo sheets. -The access bus is available at two of our groups which enables members to get to and from our groups, without this service some members would not be able to attend. -Some of our members have formed friendships and met up outside of groups and outings. -We have formed a relationship with the local school and the childrens choir have attended our group and sang to our members at Christmas.
