COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DANCE WITH STAGO C.I.C.

Company Number: 13590549 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 August 2024

Company activities and impact

During this financial year, Dance With Stago CIC has continued delivering creative dance activities, community engagement programmes, and workshops aimed at improving the wellbeing, confidence, and social inclusion of children and adults across Birmingham and surrounding areas. Key activities included: Providing free and low-cost Afro dance and fitness sessions in schools, community centres, and faith-based settings, reaching over 150 participants aged 5–65. Supporting children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to access regular physical activity, build confidence, and develop teamwork skills through dance. Running holiday workshops and creative events to engage families and strengthen community connections. Transitioning the organisation’s delivery model into a new community-focused initiative, King’s Ark Dance Academy (KADA), which continues to operate under the Dance With Stago CIC umbrella. This transition aims to increase accessibility of free and subsidised creative dance activities for children, promote positive values, and create a sustainable platform for community benefit. Collaborating with freelance instructors, volunteers, and partner organisations to extend the reach of our programmes and respond to local needs. Overall, our activities have contributed to improved mental and physical wellbeing, reduced isolation, and enhanced community engagement among diverse groups in the region.

Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholders consulted included parents and carers of children attending our dance and fitness workshops, freelance instructors, volunteers supporting delivery, and community venue partners. We gathered feedback through verbal discussions during sessions, follow-up phone calls, and online surveys. Stakeholders expressed strong support for the transition towards King’s Ark Dance Academy to increase focus on children’s wellbeing and community outreach. In response, we adapted our planned activities to prioritise more free and subsidised workshops, improved communication about the rebrand, and extended consultation periods to ensure stakeholders understood the changes.
