Tambu Ayis Support Service CIC Directors’ Report For the year ended 31 October 2024 1. Company Information Company Name: Tambu Ayis Support Service CIC Company Number: 15242244 Registered Address: 86–90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE 2. Directors The director during this reporting period was: Miranda Josiah 3. Principal Activities Tambu Ayis Support Service CIC (TASS) is a community interest company based in Hackney, supporting African and Caribbean women affected by domestic abuse, trauma, and gender-based violence. Through creative wellbeing programmes, casework, and peer support, TASS helps women rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and access vital support networks. 4. Activities and Achievements During the Year EmpowerHer Workshops Delivered four cycles of 10-week EmpowerHer creative wellbeing workshops Sessions focused on empowerment, self-expression, and building confidence through arts-based activities Each workshop was supported by trauma-informed facilitation and optional one-to-one casework Funding and Financial Support We successfully secured multiple sources of funding during the period: £11,922 from The National Lottery Community Fund for the full delivery of EmpowerHer Workshops, staffing, hall hire, and materials £2,000 from The Blue Thread to support the initial launch of the programme and cover key operational costs £500 grant from Southern Housing to support community-based delivery £495.76 in community donations £361.99 raised through community events, including a Jumble Sale and our Black Business Market These funds enabled TASS to offer services free of charge, removing financial barriers for women experiencing hardship, particularly during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. 5. Community Involvement and Partnerships TASS is a ‘by and for’ organisation: Led by a registered social worker with lived experience Informed by service user feedback gathered through focus groups and reflective activities Supported by a board including survivors and professionals from the health and social care sectors Embedded in community networks, including Hackney VAWG Operational Group, Hackney DAIS, Women’s Resource Centre, and Imkaan 6. Learning and Development Key learnings from the year included: Workshops are most effective when supported by both a facilitator and a caseworker, as many women need emotional support alongside creative expression Referrals from community agencies and peer word-of-mouth outperform online advertising There is unmet demand for evening and online workshops, especially among employed women Community events not only raise funds but help raise visibility and trust in our work 7. Governance and Safeguarding One safeguarding case required a MARAC referral and welfare check by police. Protocols were followed appropriately and no further action was required. The matter was resolved with care and full transparency. 8. Financial Overview Total income during the reporting period: National Lottery Grant: £11,922 The Blue Thread Grant: £2,000 Southern Housing Grant: £500 Donations: £495.76 Event Income (e.g. Jumble Sale, Black Business Market): £361.99 Total Income: £15,279.75 All funds were used to deliver and sustain our EmpowerHer workshops and advocacy support, with spending on staff, materials, hall hire, marketing, and participant support. 9.
