COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

JUNK TREASURE PROJECT CIC

Company Number: 15019423 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2024

Company activities and impact

The Junk Treasure Project will begin trading at the end of 2025 providing low cost environmentally friendly resources for use in recreational, educational and leisure activities. We will collect, redirect and repurpose clean and safe materials from local businesses and make these available to the local community for use in schools, community groups, art groups and local families. The Junk Treasure Project will curate a range of creative events using repurposed materials. By using other’s ‘junk’ we wish to show to community how to turn this into ‘treasure’ through in person workshops and activity boxes.

Consultation with stakeholders

In preparation of us starting trading later in 2025 we have carried out 3 focus groups with our stakeholders to ascertain the preferred types of activities for our target demographic. The stakeholder groups we spoke to were: A Schools and nursery in Northamptonshire – they will benefit greatly from low cost environmentally conscious arts and crafts materials and activity boxes. A group of parents with children in Northamptonshire – waste materials that would usually end up in landfill will be repurposed as craft materials in activity boxes and individual families can subscribe to the boxes. We asked families what types of activities and learning tasks they’d like to see in our boxes. The community of Northamptonshire will have access to low cost wellbeing groups, play-based activities, arts and crafts activities and more. Families of Northamptonshire – we aim to provide education to adults and children about the repurposing of scrap, promoting recycling and earth friendly behaviours. We also wish to provide education groups that enhance family life with a focus on arts and crafts within the home, with the aim of improving social welfare and mental health across the county. The environment – we aim to protect and preserve the environment for the benefit of all by repurposing thousands of KGs of useful clean waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. Businesses of Northamptonshire – we wish to help local companies by removing their clean useful waste items and working with them on their sustainability and environment focussed goals. We wish to inspire the community to connect through group and individual creativity alongside nourishing a deeper sense of connection to the Earth and compassion for the planet on which we reside.
