COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BBSA (BLACK BUSINESS SUPPORT AGENCY) C.I.C.

Company Number: 13367624 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2025

Company activities and impact

The BBSA aims to inspire future and promote currently operating British black businesses. Statistically in the U.K members of the black community are less likely to own a business. Through an annual Black Business Expo we give a platform for business educators and community funding groups to engage with the black community to overcome some of the barriers associated with the under representation of black owned businesses. We also provide a space for trading black owned businesses to showcase themselves to people from all the different communities that attend the event. Whilst also inspiring others to follow in their brave footsteps towards ownership. During this financial year the Black Business Expo was held at the John Smiths Stadium, Huddersfield, on the 21st July 2024. The financial year was spent planning for the event, maintaining links with key note speakers, businesses and delegates. After the event, impact analysis was conducted via feedback from businesses and delegates. The knowledge gained from analysis went straight into planning the Expo for 30/08/2025.

Consultation with stakeholders

The companies stakeholders include anyone interested in addressing the aspirational inequalities between different ethnic communities when it comes to business ownership. This includes people from all communities who wish to support by just attending the event and purchasing from or just positively engaging with members of the black community. Members of the black community old and young who wish to learn more about business ownership. Members of the black community who already own a business and wish to engage with potential new customers, whilst also inspiring potential new business owners with their presence. Consultations were conducted after the event on 21st July 2024 with questionnaires sent to delegates who attended and businesses who showcased. Also guest speakers, and sponsors were consulted. The aim is to conduct consultation and feedback questionnaires after each event to better understand the needs of the community we are aiming to benefit.
