COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DON'T X THE LINE CIC

Company Number: 07403966 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2024

Company activities and impact

Don’t X The Line CIC continued to build strong relationships within our communities, and the Professional game continuing with our projects, Liverpool FC, and Everton FC, share our work annually supporting the campaign on their social media outlets and websites. The football tournaments continue and as part of DXTLCIC, we have added the Heart Of Gold Initiative, that will support mental health at grassroots football, this has been a welcome move within the communities and new volunteers are on board to complete activities and challenges such as marathons, mountain climbing etc, to raise awareness and be one step ahead on mental health. Our young commentators programme has been setup to give children a voice by recognising their strengths and positive thinking . It has helped our young commentators gain skills such as team work, communication skills and has helped to build their confidence this has continued and our young commentators who have become ambassadors will use their new found skills to develop the next group of youngsters, aiming to reach out to the many deprived children and those with mental health to once again build up their confidence as well as meeting new friends along their journey. Guests who are invited into the podcast studio are always taken aback at the way the young people express themselves, by studying who they are and how they began their quest for success which makes the interviews relaxed and often humorous, as they bring the best out of the guests. Our young commentators reflect the work and philosophy of Don’t X The Line by adopting the spirit of inclusion, encouragement, fair play and REFspect/Respect. Don’t X The Line is very proud to have continued to bring people together within the community, also adding new ideas to help make an impact that encourages good health and wellbeing amongst our young generations. The ambassadors for Don’t X The Line certainly understand the impact that the campaign is having towards respect and mental health, by keeping referees at grassroots level officiating without the unwanted abuse and learning how the youngsters benefit from having a good attitude on and off the field of play. DXTL passed on its two young football teams to a club called Jennings Football academy (JFA), and are pleased to announce that the club, who have more than 20 junior teams, spread awareness of our campaign and are strong supporters of the work we carry out at grassroots level football. They wear the REFspect logo on the home kits and all teams have adopted the campaign in several leagues they play in across the region. DXTL is still strong in building relationships with referee organisations that are involved at both professional (PGMOL) and grassroots level, supporting the key messages we portray throughout grassroots football once again, encouraging spectators to adopt the spirit of encouragement and fair play. Football and sporting activities are also about passion used in the appropriate way. We will never take the passion away from it, but we will always encourage good behaviour. Governing body, The Premier League (PGMOL) match officials, continue to wear Don't X The Line t shirts annually during their warm-ups across premier league grounds around the country on a nominated weekend each season. The support from the media continues to grow. Our Grassroots Podcast weekender show, DXTLTV from the touchlines on YouTube, is still going strong And we have now added Spotify to advertise the grassroots weekend show. Our DXTL young ambassadors help to pass on their experiences to help train new ambassadors from disadvantaged communities. This includes the creation of links to official football bodies and other like-minded organisations. We visit junior football leagues each weekend and our presence is welcomed by leagues such as Walton & Kirkdale, North Liverpool and John O’Leary leagues. Our visits make a strong impact on poor touchline behaviour. We will continue to deliver a workshop which targets parents, managers and coaches and participants emphasising their roles and safeguarding responsibilities which helps ensure good behaviour throughout our sport, adding the changes that the FA implement each year. We continue to offer club photo ID cards once again as a safeguarding aspect and have the contract to do these with Liverpool CFA which is ongoing. Our development of the Referee awareness score cards that we developed for referees to mark the standards of behaviour on and off the field as they officiate has proved a great success with the young and experienced referees throughout the junior leagues. These cards benefit our referees and are used very successfully at our DXTL friendly tournaments. We continue our work with grassroots organisations, such as County Football Associations, National Children’s Football Alliance, , Football4Football. Our main supporter, the PFA, support our t-shirts that are worn by the professional referees annually. They also supply them to our volunteers including some for grassroots referees that they wear at tournaments and some league games. These act as a reminder to parents and other spectators to curb poor behaviour. In Professional Football we have support from all governing bodies with an annual partnership continuing with the PFA (Professional Footballers Association) who supply the Premier League and the EFL Wembley Cup Finals with our campaign Match Officials T Shirts.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are principally young people from disadvantaged communities. We also benefit their parents and guardians, football officials and junior football leagues who experience greater respect and acceptable behaviour. We help children with the provision and opportunities locally to our stakeholders when household budgets are tighter than ever and sports facilities continue to increase prices taking them beyond the reach of many disadvantaged children and young people. We also recognise the impact that youth unemployment locally is having. We are still targeting the youth of today to try and give them a voice and to rebuild their trust and confidence by becoming involved with us to help make a difference. Anti-social behaviour is still at a high level, including the pull of gang associations, along with the tempting instant rewards for some young people associated with the supply of drugs which still blights our communities. Awareness of the Don't X The Line campaign still highlights this to the managers of the teams to raise awareness of the dangers of becoming involved with gangs or drugs. Through junior football leagues, websites, and our online streaming program we will continue to create positive attitudes, encouraging and addressing the tensions between groups and opening pathways into action by once again addressing this to the junior leagues and team managers and football coaches. We will continue to work with the young people and listen to them, giving them a voice on their positive and negative outcomes. We will tailor what we do to the needs of our stakeholders. Our stakeholders then become our ambassadors, not just our trained ambassadors described above but all of our participants, spreading the word to other young people with similar issues. We are also portraying the message to local businesses, such as a supporter Aintree Sofas, who are based within our communities and who add their support by getting involved in building a strong relationship amongst our stake holders. Don't X The Line also recognise that mental health is increasingly becoming a problem amongst children. That is why we have added the Heart Of Gold initiatives. We will use grassroots football to portray the message to the grassroots football family, to help us to make a difference by giving the children a voice to build their confidence and to improve their wellbeing. We aim to be One Step Ahead On Mental Health. We continue to have the support of the following governing bodies and are in regular contact with the following; the Football League (EFL). We also have many CFA’s adding their support at grassroots level. The PFA, Premier Games Match Officials (PGMOL), Football Association (FA), League Managers Committee, The English FA. All these organisations add to the publicity and status of the campaign through their social media platforms.
