Niyyah Community Enterprise CIC was established to support children, young people, and families across Birmingham, with a focus on empowerment, development, and community growth. During our first year of operation, we successfully delivered a range of programmes and activities: Youth Programmes: We organised weekly youth hubs, holiday provision, and engagement activities for young people aged 8 to 19. Our summer programmes attracted over 120 participants, offering safe spaces, creative workshops, sports, and personal development sessions. Parental Support: We engaged parents and carers through workshops designed to equip them with the tools to support their children's personal and educational development. Social Enterprise Support: We delivered sessions to help aspiring and existing CIC founders understand business audits and improve operational practices. Partnerships: We built strong relationships with local organisations, including Shenley Court Hall, Bournville Village Trust, the National Youth Agency, and UK Youth. Social Impact: Our work addressed gaps in youth provision outside school hours, strengthened family resilience, and contributed to local community development through collaboration and participation. All activities were aligned with the National Occupational Standards for youth work, ensuring quality, inclusivity, and measurable impact.
We maintained ongoing consultation with young people, families, and local partners through: Feedback forms completed after sessions and events Focus groups with young people and parents Regular meetings with community venue managers and funding partners Informal conversations at events to gather real-time feedback and suggestions for service improvement Feedback highlighted a clear need for consistent youth provision, increased engagement opportunities for teenagers, and greater support for emerging community initiatives.
