    Turnover policy

2.2. Turnover Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances. Sale of goods Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods has transferred to the buyer. This is usually at the point that the customer has signed for the delivery of the goods. Rendering of services Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs. Turnover is only recognised to the extent of recoverable expenses when the outcome of a contract cannot be estimated reliably.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CLIMATE MUSEUM UK CIC

Company Number: 12358101 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

This was our fifth year of operation, having registered at the end of December 2019. 2024 was a relatively quiet year in terms of delivering larger-scale joint projects. To reflect this drop in activity and income, we stopped meeting fortnightly, cutting our monthly themed training sessions and retaining our monthly membership meetings. As an alternative to monthly trainings, we developed three new approaches to serve our community: A celebratory forum for members to share their practice A reflective process supported by Labelmates, to explore our story of change and fundraising strategy The Earth Talk programme of short courses as an on-ramp to joining CMUK as a member. The first course ran in November 2024 for 24 participants. We also delivered training sessions and public-facing workshops for clients in the cultural sector, and some projects, described below: South Downs National Park (Wild World project) We concluded the delivery of our collaborative project (Wild World) with South Downs National Park. This project involved three strands: a programme of teacher briefings and a suite of online lesson plans; training workshops for heritage professionals in person and online; workshops and resources for young people. Norwich Science Festival (Make Climate History) In February 2024, we delivered a pilot workshop for the Norwich Science Festival, using the warming stripes to involve families in creating a mural in Norwich Library after exploring the history of environmental changes and climate science. We planned to develop this into a regular offer for schools, and intend to seek partners to do this. Climate & Nature Academy (funding bid, unsuccessful) We collaborated as a leading partner with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research on a Lottery funding bid to develop a Climate and Nature Academy for Norfolk, to include a public engagement programme of a pop-up museum and digital content. This was unsuccessful but we developed ideas that were assets for future work. Our Planet, Cambridge Museums We were awarded £1000 to develop a proposal for a creative community pop-up museum in Cambridge, on the theme of nature adapting to the climate crisis. Culture Declares Assembly, Norwich We curated and delivered some activities for Reimagine the City, a creative assembly for Norwich Citizens to imagine a greener, safer future. It took place at Norwich Theatre, in partnership with Reimagine Norwich. (Fee £500 from Culture Declares/Ally for Action). Training sessions and pop-ups (funded by clients or pro bono) We delivered training for Altro flooring company, NSEAD, Ki Futures, Somerset Art Works, the British Council in Poland, the Museum Ethnographers’ Group, Norwich Quakers & Norwich Friends of the Earth, Garama Ltd, Norwich Science Festival, Norwich Unity Hub, the Norwich Society, Lincolnshire Artists Network, Out There Festival & Gossamer Threads Circus, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, UP Projects, Natural History Museum (Our Broken Planet network), Pound Arts, Sunderland Museums, Norwich Rotary Club, Kids in Museums, MuseumNext and Groundwork Gallery. Some were funded by clients and some on a pro bono basis. The impact of our activities was to: - grow our reputation for our high-quality resources for engaging the public with climate and nature; - to develop the capacities of 100s of cultural sector professionals with our training; - to engage 100s of public audiences in-person and online in creative activities and conversations around nature, climate change and their futures.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are our CIC members, and our supporting partners. Our members are creative practitioners in environmental engagement, and our supporting partners are museums or theatre companies interested in this field of work. We consult with them via monthly meetings. We discuss our existing and proposed projects, our strategies, resources, social media and methods of engaging public. We also deliver training at least monthly to cultural sector professionals, and invite feedback during and after these sessions.
