Who we are We are a virtual innovation ecosystem comprising a global network of Africa-focused social innovators, entrepreneurs and key innovation ecosystem stakeholders. We foster collaboration amongst members towards co-creating solutions for Africa’s toughest challenges. What we do We connect innovators around the world working on Africa focussed projects with: People, Education, Community and Support Who is it for? - Social innovators and entrepreneurs anywhere in the world working on Africa focused projects. Our support services cover members with raw ideas to those at the early growth stages. - Professional support service providers willing to support mission-driven start-ups on their journeys to making the world a better place - Key innovation ecosystem stakeholders including incubators, hubs, academic institutions, investors, public sector institutions willing to engage with social innovators Our Approach We believe in interconnectivity and interdependence hence we leverage our global network of partnerships in creating an ‘artificial’ innovation ecosystem that breaks silos and helps members transcend the limitations of their local contexts. Key Activities - How we serve our members We support innovators across different stages of growth with two broad categories of activities: General Community Activities – These activities facilitate continuous interactions and engagement amongst all members of our network across different stakeholder groups with the aim of facilitating networking, introductions as well as cross fertilization of insights and ideas. These include Roundtables, Masterclasses and Annual Showcases. Specific Stage Activities – These activities leverage our global network of partnerships to provide support for members at the idea and early development stage as well as the early growth stages. They include access to Mentoring, Incubation Programs, Educational Courses, Advisory and Coaching Services, Publicity, Facilitated Business Introductions and other professional support services. Benefits - Social Innovators have access to people, education, communities and support - Networking with individuals and organisations to facilitate potentially useful partnerships - Professional support service providers gain visibility and earn revenue as serve other members - Investors and representatives of impact investment funds will have access to investable opportunities across industry sectors in alignment with the sustainable development goals, - Community stakeholders, including non-profits, activists, government representatives and many more can connect with one another to share their individual challenges and opportunities.
We have interacted with social innovators whom we want to help. In our interactions we built intervention support programs to meet their specific needs. With the help of professionals who have supported with pro bono support, we have also been able to consult this group of stakeholders to continue to help the innovators. Other stakeholders consulted include incubator programs with whom support services have been provided to the innovators we support.
