The Community Food hub serves anyone in crisis, offering appointments 52 weeks a year, three times a week. It also has a Community pantry where edible food is rescued that would otherwise go to waste. The main aims are: Ensure access to nutritious food for all residents and to increase food security. Empower users by allowing them to select food items that best meet their budgeting needs. Alleviate the stress of not having to eat. Reduce financial burden on families. Combat food waste through various schemes. Support is provided to families , individuals, the elderly and those with limited access to transportation. It fosters a sense of community , as it involves local volunteers and partnerships with local shops who donate to the Community Food hub.
We have consulted stakeholders through gaining feedback from users of the service during their visits to enable us to decide which products to stock. We engage with general public through our Facebook page. A member of the administration team responds to messages we receive. We work closely with other organisations including the Housing Association to ensure we are accessible to all sections of society.
