Feelgood Communities CIC has continued to deliver creative and wellbeing-focused workshops that support mental health, social connection, and community resilience. We have run a wide range of accessible Sessions including laughter yoga, mindfulness and the breath, crochet for wellbeing, creative writing, and seasonal craft workshops, across Greater Manchester and the UK. These sessions have helped reduce isolation, build confidence, and improve emotional and physical wellbeing for people of all ages and backgrounds. We’ve particularly focused on reaching those with lived experience of mental health challenges, offering a safe, non-judgmental space for expression, creativity, and healing. We’ve kept detailed records of attendance, participant feedback, and finances, ensuring transparency and accountability in all our work Through laughter and the breath, people can improve their levels of happiness, improve their health, and learn coping strategies for dealing with stress. Through creative activities, people can develop and enjoy skills, and express themselves. Mindful Crochet and Armfullness is being led by Claire, in particular in many locations in Stockport and Manchester. Creative writing is being led by Robin. Both of us lead laughter-based activities. These have been delivered as in-person workshops, online workshops, presentations and trainings. Our first main project has been to create a performance with Better Things, a charity which supports people with learning disabilities and/or autism, and Funky Fitness and Fun, a not-profit organisation supporting people with additional special needs. Building on our work together in 2023, the group members created a cabaret which was presented in June. The project was funded by a GMCVO Wellbeing Grant. Our second main project, to create a set of Wellbeing Activity Cards, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, was completed. These cards are to enable groups to create and lead wellbeing sessions for themselves. We have now applied for a follow-on grant to show groups how to use the cards with their members. Feelgood Laughter Club in Gorton continues to flourish. We have been training new Laughter Yoga leaders who can gain experience by assisting in leading the Gorton Laughter Club. Clients for our one-off activities include individuals coming to workshops, and with organisations that have invited us in. These including Stockport Homes, Breast Cancer Now, and others. Much of our work is done on a voluntary basis. We also work with some local charities, and on a project in a community in Ghana. In 2024, Claire and Robin both visited the community of Fievie in Ghana to progress our work with the community. During the year, we had around 3000 attendees at around 200 events and activities.
The company's stakeholders are: 1. People in the UK and around the world that wish to use laughter, energy and breath work, creative activities including crochet and writing for improved wellbeing (so potentially everyone). 2. People in Ghana and Ethiopia in particular in terms of community, health and education. 3. Specifically community groups where we lead laughter-based work and High Vibes Crochet, and community organisations we have worked with. Volunteers are consulted about the laughter-based and creative work; we also discuss ideas for activities with other UK laughter professionals and creatives, and other community organisations including WeStandTogether, Better Things, Bury Active Women's Centre and Stockport Homes. Also, after some activities during the year we invite participants to give written feedback and to offer ideas for further activities they would like us to do. Feedback confirmed support for our current range of activities and for the development of the Wellbeing Activity Cards for communities to use. Feedback also led to developing Armfullness workshops, and a pantomime project. New suggestions are where possible implemented.
