KindleWoods worked with Huddersfield University and Kirklees Council and the local community to plant new woodland in the Huddersfield area including land at Shelley Lane, Park Lane and Newsome Road. This work also contributed to the development of a community tree ID booklet which we created as part of the Celebrating Nature and Community Project with thanks to the National Lottery Community Foundation, building a resource of tree knowledge and stories from over 70 volunteers and members of the local community in both web and booklet format. The project also enabled KindleWoods to celebrate community and woodlands more broadly through a fantastic community ceilidh, with volunteers and participants past and present as well as members of the local community and woodland communities attending. Throughout the year KindleWoods worked alongside Belzona and their employee volunteering programme, planting trees and running two acorn collecting events. During just one of these events for example, 30 members of the team helped to harvest 88kg of acorns which is the approximate equivalent of 10,000 acorns.
