Company activities and impact

Over the past year, The SMART Action Project CIC has continued to make a meaningful and measurable difference in the lives of children, young people, and families within our community, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We have provided free swimming sessions during school holidays for families with children who have SEND, offering both an inclusive recreational activity and vital respite for families who often face limited accessible options. These sessions have been well attended and positively received, helping reduce social isolation and improve physical and mental wellbeing. We have also continued to fund access to sport and recreational opportunities for children across the area. By removing financial barriers, we are enabling more young people to engage in healthy, active lifestyles and experience the social and developmental benefits of structured physical activity. This year saw us play a key role in the formation of the South Molton Youth Sport Partnership, a collaborative initiative designed to enhance sporting opportunities for young people across the region. This partnership brings together schools, clubs, and community organisations to create a stronger, more connected youth sports network. As part of the Department for Education's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme commissioned by Devon County Council, we designed and delivered an exciting and inclusive set of initiatives. These included: Free family swimming sessions Dedicated SEND swimming sessions A secondary-age HAF club in partnership with Skate Molton These initiatives ran during the Easter, Summer, and Winter school holidays, ensuring consistent access to enriching activities and nutritious food during school breaks for those most in need. Additionally, we began a collaboration with UNESCO North Devon Biosphere on a range of community outreach projects, exploring ways to connect local families with the natural environment while promoting sustainability and inclusion. Through all of these initiatives, The SMART Action Project CIC remains committed to reducing inequality, increasing access, and empowering children and families to thrive through sport, recreation, and community engagement.
