| Basis of preparing the financial statements |
| The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost basis except for the modifications to a fair value basis for investment property as specified in the accounting policy below. |

| The investment property is held for capital appreciation and not for use by the company and so is carried at fair value. The surplus or deficit arising from the annual valuation is recognised in the income statement. |
| Deferred tax |
| Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. |
| Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements.
