During the financial year, Essex Charge CIC has continued to fulfil its mission of providing accessible and inclusive basketball opportunities for young people aged 6-18 and the wider community. Our core activities have included: Weekly basketball coaching sessions delivered by qualified and DBS-cleared coaches, aimed at skill development, fitness, and teamwork. Youth league participation enabling our teams to compete in regional and national leagues, with subsidised or discounted entry fees to ensure cost is not a barrier for families. Community outreach programmes in partnership with local schools and youth organisations, encouraging more children and young people to engage in sport, especially those who may not have access to private coaching. Volunteer and leadership opportunities, offering pathways for young people to gain coaching experience, develop confidence, and acquire transferable life skills. The impact of these activities has been evident through increased participation numbers, improved physical and mental wellbeing among participants, and the positive feedback we have received from parents, schools, and local community groups. Our initiatives provide a constructive and engaging alternative to screen time or antisocial activities, helping young people build friendships, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
We receive regular feedback from parents and players through discussions, training sessions, and social media. This feedback helps shape our programmes and ensures they continue to meet community needs.
