Speaking engagements and knowledge sharing Our team members have been recognised as thought leaders in environmental storytelling and innovative media, receiving invitations to share their expertise at prestigious industry events throughout the year. Key speaking engagements: Impact Story Summit, Sundance Film Festival 2024 Panel: 'The Science-Story Bridge – Representing Complex Scientific Issues in Media' Our team contributed insights on translating complex environmental science into accessible narrative formats for mainstream audiences Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2024 Online Workshop: 'XR for Impact: Making Immersive Experiences Globally Relevant' Shared best practices for creating inclusive, globally accessible XR content that drives meaningful environmental action EcoFrames Film Festival 2024 Panel: 'Fiction and Environmental Narratives' Explored the critical role of storytelling in environmental communication, demonstrating how fictional narratives can inspire real-world climate action These speaking opportunities have enabled us to share our expertise with international audiences of filmmakers, technologists, and environmental advocates, build strategic partnerships within the environmental media sector, contribute to industry discourse on effective climate communication, and enhance our organisation's reputation as leaders in innovative environmental storytelling. Participation in professional development workshops for sustainable production The team has participated in workshops from the following organizations to ensure our production practices align with industry sustainability standards and reduce our environmental footprint: The Sustainable Production for Entertainment (SPEC) Certification A worker-centered sustainability certification developed by USGBC California that provides professionals across film, TV, and media with practical tools to implement sustainable practices throughout production processes. Sustainability Workshop: Feature Film Production (BFI Sustainable Screen) An online workshop delivered by the British Film Institute focusing on sustainable production methodologies and environmental impact reduction strategies for film projects. Grant applications: We submitted applications to the following funding bodies to support our environmental storytelling work: DocSociety Climate Story Fund: Supporting documentary and media projects that drive climate action through compelling storytelling. The W F Southall Trust: Providing funding for charitable projects focused on environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives. Global Storytellers Fund: Funding innovative storytelling projects that address global challenges and promote social impact. Patagonia Environmental Grant: Supporting organizations working to address root causes of environmental crises and protect both ecosystems and affected communities.
Our stakeholders include the general public with an interest in sustainability issues. Some of the most important categories include: Educators and students such as school and university Museum, science and art exhibition staff Families with children VR production companies in the area of impact production International organisations staff working in the area of sustainability We have engaged with stakeholders through multiple channels throughout the year in the following methods: Ongoing stakeholder dialogue: Regular informal consultations with representatives from each stakeholder group to gather feedback on project development and impact Public engagement workshops: Online Q&A sessions and interactive workshops open to the general public (as detailed in Section 1) Academic partnerships: Direct engagement with students and academic staff through our Head of Research's position at the University of Leeds Based on stakeholder feedback, we have: Refined our project's accessibility features to better serve educational audiences Adapted our content delivery methods to accommodate both institutional and family viewing contexts Enhanced our technical approach based on input from industry professionals Strengthened our research methodology through academic collaboration
