DISABILITY ADVICE AND WELFARE NETWORK (DAWN) IS A WELFARE ORGANISATION THAT SUPPORTS PEOPLE TO ACCESS BENEFITS AND OFFERS ADVICE ON BENEFITS AND WELFARE RIGHTS. THE CIC BECAME INCORPORATED ON 20TH NOVEMBER 2023. SINCE THIS TIME, THE ORGANISATION'S ACTIVITY HAS BENEFITED THE COMMUNITY IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: - PROVIDED QUALITY ADVICE AND SUPPORT LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY WITH BENEFIT CLAIMS AND BENEFIT ISSUES. - PROVIDED 2 WARM HUBS, GIVING ADVICE ON BENEFITS, HOUSING, SOCIAL CARE, EDUCATION AND MEDICAL SUPPORT TO ACCESS APPROPRIATE SERVICES. - RAN 5 PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE PAYMENT WORKSHOPS (3 IN PERSON AND 2 VIRTUAL EVENTS), INCREASING UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORT AND EMPOWERING PEOPLE TO ENGAGE IN THE SYSTEM WITH GREATER CONFIDENCE. - HELD ADVICE SESSIONS AND DROP-INS, INCREASING AWARENESS AND ENTITLEMENTS. - TRIBUNAL SUCCESSES RESULTING IN OVER £250,000 IN BACKPAYMENTS BETWEEN DECEMBER 2023 AND DECEMBER 2024. - SUPPORTED OLDER SERVICE USERS TO ACCESS UNIVERSAL CREDIT. - ATTENDED EVENTS AND NETWORKING, GIVING FREE ADVICE AND SUPPORT. - PROVIDED AUTISM PASSPORTS AND EDUCATION LEAVERS PASSPORTS TO SUPPORT AUTISTIC INDIVIDUALS.
THE ORGANISATION'S STAKEHOLDERS ARE BENEFIT CLAIMANTS WITHIN THE TENDRING/COLCHESTER AREA, BUT ALSO NATIONWIDE. THE DIRECTORS LIVE OR HAVE CLOSE LINKS TO THE TENDRING/COLCHESTER AREA AND HAVE WORKED IN WELFARE RIGHTS FOR A COMBINED 35 PLUS YEARS. WE HAVE NOT CONSULTED SPECIFICALLY WITH STAKEHOLDERS BUT HAVE RECEIVED POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND, ALTHOUGH NEVER FORMALLY ADVERTISED OUR SERVICE, WE HAVE A CONSTANT STREAM OF REFERRALS. APART FROM SERVICE USERS, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDE TENDRING CVST, THE DWP, UC STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT GROUP, SOCIAL CARE, GRASSROOTS, POLICE, HEALTH AUTHORITIES, VILLAGE HALLS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES, THE CROSS INN – COMMUNITY RUN PUB, AND THE SUFFOLK LAW CENTRE.
No remuneration was received
2 DONATIONS TO PARKINSONS UK FOR SUPPLY OF ITEMS TO WARM HUB FOR FREE DISTRIBUTION ON 10 DECEMBER 2024 AND 24 JANUARY 2025. 1 DONATION TO ANNA KENNEDY ONLINE MADE VIA JUST GIVING, FOR A DONATION AMOUNT OF 58.50 POUNDS ON 29 JULY 2024.
