During the year Newham Voices published 12 editions and continued to provide a regular service of news, public infornation and cultural support for people who live and work in Newham, one of London's most diverse and economically-challenging Boroughs. This year the company completed its transition process in its relations with Social Spider CIC. The Board oversaw a transition in which Newham Voices has agreed that Social Spider CIC, another community interest company which publishes community newspapers in Walthamstow, Enfield, Barnet and Haringey, now has responsibility for the management and advertising activities. This arrangement has greatly improved the efficiency of our work. The editorial issues raised by the paper during the year have focused on the challenges facing the local authority, particularly in the area of housing, homelessness, social care and community health. Thes have again contributed to raising awareness within the local community.
The Newham Voices is a regular contributor to major information-sharing networks of local groups through WhatsApp networks across the london Borough of Newham. There have been a number of co-operative initiatives -- in support of local parks, actions to assist refugee and migrants and support for the People Powered Places programme which involves many of Newham's commmunity of more than 150 voluntary organisations. The feedback from these initiatives continues to be positive, adding to wider community awareness of the paper and its contents. Newham Voices has continued to promote race equality initiatives and has particularly supported the community voices around the Carpenter's Estate regeneration projects, one of Europe largest urban programmes which was launched during the year. Two meetings of readers and supporters have been held during the year to get feedback on outr work.
