In the financial year to May 2024, our company has continued to actively contribute to the local community by supporting the education and development of early career dentists. As part of our commitment to improving dental care through professional learning, we organised a study day specifically designed for newly graduated dentists, with a strong focus on oral cancer recognition and management. This study day formed part of the CGDent Midlands initiative and was attended by approximately 150 early career General Dental Practitioners (GDPs). This event was of significant benefit to the wider community as it equipped young dentists with critical knowledge to identify signs of oral cancer in a primary care setting. By improving awareness and early recognition of potentially serious pathology, the study day played a key role in enhancing patient safety, promoting timely referrals, and ultimately supporting better oral health outcomes for the local population. To further encourage engagement and clinical excellence, a case presentation competition was held during the event. This recognised and rewarded outstanding clinical work, with a prize awarded to the best case presented by a young dentist. The initiative fostered peer learning and celebrated the high standard of care being delivered by early career professionals. Through events like this, our company continues to invest in the professional growth of local dentists, while also strengthening the quality and safety of dental care delivered across the community. By promoting clinical confidence, collaboration, and early detection of serious conditions, we remain committed to improving oral health and well-being for all residents.
