Company activities and impact

Meet The Makers Collective CIC is a group for people who design, create & want to sell their work alongside like minded people through our popular ‘Makers Markets’ which are held on the last Saturday of the month from September through to December. We are a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) who's mission is to create unique spaces for local creatives to work together to deliver locally handmade products to the local community. Directors, Liz Chapman and Jan Beal, who are both local creatives themselves, work closely together to help coordinate the group to "put the handmade back into British crafts". Our commitment to the group is to create safe market spaces in prime locations, promoted through local press, social media & promo flyers, all the while being fair & consistent in our approach when we select our designer makers. We have supported 57 small businesses including many ‘start up’ new businesses through the Makers Markets from in and around the local area with mentoring and giving advice being part of our service. The markets attract the local community and are always well attended which in turn boosts the local economy.. New for this financial year has been our offer of workshops to the public in order for them to ‘get creative’. We have helped 135 people try something new and creative in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, which in turns helps to support peoples wellbeing and builds on a sense of community. We have delivered classes in candle making, needle felting, fused glass, jewellery making, pottery & floristry alongside running free creative classes for young people of which there will be more of this summer.
