AEI is a Black woman-led Community Interest Company committed to improving health, education, and family well-being within Black communities. The organization delivers culturally responsive perinatal services, including doula support, childbirth education, and postpartum care, to address the disproportionate maternal and infant health disparities affecting Black families. The organisation strives to improve the experiences of black mothers throughout their parenting experience, helping to navigate all aspects of the system in a culturally appropriate way, to provide integrative services that uplift Black families AEI also plans to provide training and certification for aspiring Black doulas through a culturally grounded curriculum focused on ancestral birthing practices, reproductive justice, and practical skill-building. Additionally, AEI offers support to Black homeschooling families through workshops, cooperative learning resources, and culturally relevant curriculum guidance. The organization’s impact includes: -Improving birth outcomes for Black mothers and infants. -Increasing the number of certified Black doulas equipped to serve their communities. -Supporting Black parents in providing quality, culturally affirming education for their children. -Fostering community healing, emotional well-being, and intergenerational resilience through wellness programming.
AEI actively engages stakeholders through community listening sessions, parent and family feedback forums, and doula mentorship circles. Program participants, community members, doulas-in-training, and collaborating partners are regularly consulted to shape program design and delivery. Stakeholder feedback directly informs service development, curriculum creation, and strategic planning to ensure offerings remain responsive, equitable, and culturally affirming.
