Short Supply is a community interest company based in Greater Manchester, working to build fair opportunities for early-career artists, especially those from working-class, queer and marginalised backgrounds. Our work includes events, exhibitions, workshops and free resources to help artists grow their careers. During the financial year 2023 to 2024, the company’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: Over 1200 artists across the North of England took part in exhibitions, open calls, workshops and online resources. We ran 26 public events in Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Yorkshire, including exhibitions, panels and creative business support sessions. More than 90 artists accessed one-to-one mentoring through our Shortcut Sessions programme, helping them build skills and confidence. Our free resource series, Brush Up, was downloaded by over 3000 users across the UK. We created paid opportunities for 37 early-career artists through exhibitions, commissions, workshops and public speaking. We worked with partner organisations including Islington Mill, Culture Warrington and Buildhollywood to bring new creative opportunities to underrepresented communities.
