In Year 6 we have continued to build our agroecological projects in Nottinghamshire. Cropwell Community Garden’s first established season linked with local groups including Scouts, hosted events incl. a friendship event with the Social Prescribing Team, and was financially supported by Rushcliffe Borough Council and National Lottery. Our Edible Classrooms project continued to work with schools in Nottingham City and Rushcliffe districts; this year developing new school garden spaces at South Nottinghamshire Academy and Welbeck Primary. We continue to work with St Edmund Campion. This year saw the development of a new project ‘Green Thumbs Up’, funded by and in partnership with the University of Nottingham. The outputs of the project included activities with local schools and groups, and a pop up garden showcasing growing produce in small spaces. The garden was displayed at Green Hustle in Nottingham’s Old Market Square, and then rebuilt at Welbeck Primary School. Children at Welbeck Primary will be given a programme of horticultural and environmental education into next year, delivered by us. Green Thumbs Up also produced a survey to find out what support local residents are looking for to help them grow their own food. We later presented these findings to Nottinghamshire Sustainable Food Network. We also collaborated with Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham to develop a day conference on increasing local food production and procurement within Nottinghamshire's education systems.
Our stakeholders are Nottingham/Nottinghamshire residents, local authorities, community and environment groups, and education providers. We are also predominately working with local residents and schools in Rushcliffe District. We regularly participate in Nottinghamshire Sustainable Food Network meetings, which are made up of representatives from public health, food banks, community gardens, local councils, charity, business and education sectors. This year we have also joined Nottingham Growing Network. We work closely with our school communities, including linking the wider school communities with other organisations for environmental and biodiversity projects. We are also in contact with our local parish councils and Rushcliffe Borough Council regarding the community garden project who have provided grant funding in support. We are still working with local Scouts, local groups and individual residents to provide horticulture opportunities. This year we worked closely with researchers from both Nottingham Trent University and University of Nottingham.
The total amount paid to directors for their project services was £12,581. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors.
