This team engages with the community to help to tackle food and fuel poverty aswel as poverty and unemployment in general. The company also helps people with benefit advice and get involved at ground level with many none English speaking community members to understand their letters and what support might be able to available to them financially. Money management planning sessions are run throughout year to help people create budgets and manage their finances. Cv writing and interview applications and prep sessions are also conducted on a regular basis. Networking with various groups throughout the borough to arrange pick and distribution of foods and general household items from places like asda, aldi, tesco and the amazon warehouse. This is a grassroots organisation and we aim to help as many people on the ground as possible. We apply for hardship funds from the local council on behalf of those struggling with fuel poverty to issue individual energy vouchers to those most in need as well as supermarket vouchers to help those most in need. We run hot food projects distributing food parcels in the community to those most in need and over the festive periods such as Christmas and ramadhaan. We also engage with energy companies on behalf of none English speaking community members to get them extra help and support from energy firms who give grants to those in energy debt.
Consultation has been held with the volunteers of the organisation who give their time up to do the projects and help the community, all feedback has been positive and constructive resulting in better project planning and more community aimed projects for example the volunteers met with a lot of community members struggling with employment and therefore ran a project reaching out to local businesses to build connections and help with employment cv writing and interview skills and prep.
