Driven By Us, co-founded and led by James Dornor, George Imafidon MBE, and Francis Mensah, has completed two impactful years as a community interest company. The organisation is dedicated to empowering aspiring leaders from ethnic minority and underserved backgrounds within the automotive and motorsport industries made up of industry professionals and those aspiring professionals include enthusiasts. Their mission centres on creating accessible pathways into STEM and Media-related roles through mentoring, workshops, networking, and professional development opportunities through partnerships with motorsport teams, series and brands involved. Driven By Us has built a strong and inclusive community that bridges young talent, professionals, and industry stakeholders. We have developed partnerships and collaborations organisations, that including Mission 44, Aston Martin F1, Red Bull Racing, Formula E & Extreme H. Notably, Driven By Us became the first ethnic minority-led motorsport club to be recognised in the UK and have now since transitioned into a fully focused community at the close of 2024 into 2025. In the past year, the organisation has expanded its reach through education outreach delivering programmes focused on London, North East and South West England and impacting beyond the track creating legacy for further public engagement. They have delivered STEM workshops and career guidance sessions in schools across the UK, targeting students aged 8 to 18, with their community role models consisting of those within the industry aged 18-35 which has grown to 5,000. Our involvement in high-profile motorsport events such as the British Grand Prix, F1 Exhibition, and Silverstone Museum’s STEM Days and F1 Arcade has reinforced their presence as a leading voice for inclusion and diversity in motorsport in the UK. We have reached to date over 3,200 young people in terms of direct impact and inspired over 13,000 students. Driven By Us has also made strides in digitally and competitive spaces, placing third in the British F4 eSports Championship and launching new eSports and media engagement programmes. Our collaboration with organisations and businesses, showcases our commitment to breaking down barriers for young women and underrepresented groups in engineering and motorsport. Driven By Us for 2025 will be partially funding sustainable racing seats for underserved talented community members aged 18yrs and under who haven’t added the access or opportunities. In recognition of their impact, James Dornor was awarded the Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award in 2023. The organisation also won the Black Talent Award for Charitable and Voluntary Organisation of the Year in 2024, reflecting its growing influence across both grassroots and professional levels. Driven By Us plans to further develop its mentorship pathways, expand its school outreach programmes, and enhance its presence at national and international motorsport events. As it enters its third year, the organisation remains committed to reshaping the face of motorsport through equity, education, and community through initiative directly aligns with our mission to foster STEM enthusiasm and understanding.
Driven By Us CIC have the following directors appointed, James Dornor, George Imafidon MBE & Francis Mensah with no change in 2025. They employ community-focused approaches to achieve our goals effectively, ensuring lasting representation for young people from diverse backgrounds within the motorsport community. Driven By Us has partners onboard who are deeply aligned with our mission to create equitable access within motorsport and related industries. These valued partners play a crucial role in supporting our programmes, providing access, expertise, and opportunities for the next generation of diverse talent. Our collaborative network includes motorsport teams, governing bodies, educational institutions, community groups, and corporate sponsors who share our commitment to long-term inclusion and systemic change. Through strategic partnerships with organisations such as Mission 44, Star Academies, Cabot Learning Federation, we’ve been able to offer meaningful career insights, technical training, and immersive experiences. These partnerships enable Driven By Us to impact and support youth engagement, as well as co-create content and experiences that reflect the diversity of modern Britain. In 2025, we aim to deepen these partnerships and welcome new who are passionate about transforming motorsport and STEM-related fields. By working together, we can remove historical barriers, support early talent development, and ensure sustainable pathways exist for underrepresented young people to thrive both on and off the track.
