After our establishment in June 2024, with thanks to Sunderland City Council's Smart City team, particularly Nicol McConnell (Digital Inclusion Lead) for supporting Gen D to access Tech Hub at the Beam in the city centre of Sunderland for accessible digital arts provision, we held a Soft Launch of Gen D CIC on 14th August 2024, with 25 guests in attendance from diverse communities including guests from Together for Children, Sunderland BME Network, Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre, Karima's Poetry, Friends of the Drop-In, Modest Hijabz, Ananas Networks and Culture Care CIC.
We have actively consulted stakeholders through market research surveys and regular feedback sessions. Specifically, we conducted a survey across our community that received 67 responses. In response to this feedback, we have: Introduced free and low-cost digital arts sessions tailored to the specific interests of different age groups. Ensured that all necessary devices and software are provided at our sessions to reduce barriers to participation. Focused on accessibility and inclusion by running sessions in community hubs and centres. Actively designed project.s based on community and participant input with one of them being a collaborative artwork on the theme of self-expression, togetherness, and kindness following the 2024 riots, which we plan to exhibit in September 2025. We continue to gather feedback from participants and families through conversations and surveys to shape future activities and ensure our work remains community-led and relevant
