Company activities and impact

- Triton in the Community CIC exists to remove barriers to access in the aquatics and leisure industry. Our mission is to provide training courses (STA Award/Certificate) at a free or low- cost rate to individuals aged 16+ who aspire to a career in leisure and sport but cannot afford the high cost of qualifications. Alongside this, we are committed to offering free or low-cost swimming lessons and water safety sessions to the communities where these training courses take place. - During this financial year, we continued to deliver on this mission by expanding our reach across London and the South East, with a particular focus on supporting people from deprived and underrepresented backgrounds. We partnered with schools, local authorities, and grassroots organisations to ensure our programmes reached those most in need. - One of our core achievements this year was the delivery of free swimming crash courses during the summer holidays at Croydon High School, where we reached 334 children. These lessons were delivered by our trainee swimming teachers as part of their practical qualification experience, fulfilling both pillars of our mission: supporting new career pathways and providing vital water safety education. -In addition, we were pleased to be awarded NCIL funding from Brent Council, which will enable us to deliver free female-only STA training courses and community swimming lessons in 2025 at The Crown Hotel in Cricklewood. These sessions are designed to address both economic and cultural barriers to participation, particularly for women and girls in the borough. While some of our funding applications (e.g., Heathrow Community Trust and a previous round of Go! London) were not successful, we have submitted revised bids in new rounds, including applications to Go! London and Croydon Almshouse Charities, to continue growing our reach and deepening our impact. - In summary, this year’s activities have directly supported both our mission pillars: creating accessible career pathways in the leisure industry and delivering free or low-cost swimming and water safety education. Our work continues to improve individual life chances while contributing to community health, safety, and inclusion.
