Principal activities of the company

Our core purpose is to support vulnerable and marginalised communities, particularly women from ethnic minority backgrounds, including refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants. We achieve this by: Providing culturally sensitive education and skills training. Delivering physical and mental wellbeing programmes such as Boxercise, yoga, and wellness workshops. Supporting women and girls who are survivors of domestic abuse and violence, offering a safe environment for recovery and empowerment. Offering parental advice and guidance to help families strengthen relationships, improve communication, and build supportive home environments. Our services also include guidance on welfare benefits, family support, early help, and foodbank access. This year, we successfully delivered a range of impactful initiatives, including: The “Empowering Women Connecting Communities” project, funded by Sport England, which ran a 24-week programme combining kickboxing, yoga warm-up exercises, and skills training. This initiative aimed to improve physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence, and equip women with new skills in a culturally sensitive, safe, and supportive environment. 42 participant feedback showed significant improvements in self-esteem, physical fitness, and social connection, with many reporting feeling safer, stronger, and more motivated. English language classes at Havelock Estate, providing residents including refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants a safe space to learn and grow. The classes engaged 18 regular participants, with 14 signposted to digital learning opportunities. A Wellbeing Project funded by the National Lottery, designed to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the ethnic minority community. This project supported 65 participants through outreach assessments, community education, signposting, informal counselling and education on health issues. Supported 83 individuals and 350 family members at Havelock Estate, Southall, by providing food supplies and basic household necessities through a partnership with Felix Bank. Recruitment of 25 volunteers, who have contributed significantly to our programmes, with 12 volunteers successfully progressing into employment, demonstrating our role in empowering individuals toward sustainable livelihoods.

Our campaign built trust, improved vaccine awareness, and promoted healthcare access for families. With NWL Suicide Prevention Grant support, we ran a culturally sensitive campaign tackling mental health stigma and domestic abuse, training volunteers and supporting young people through workshops and mentoring. One participant shared :Thank you for bringing me out from fear to freedom.

Consultation with stakeholders

Asian Community Concern actively consults a range of stakeholders to ensure our projects are community-led and culturally relevant. A survey was completed with 130 individuals from ethnic minority communities in Ealing, including refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants, whose feedback highlighted key mental health and suicide prevention needs. We held focus groups with past beneficiaries and community members to gain deeper insights into service gaps and gather practical suggestions. Stakeholders also took part in co-design sessions to review and refine project plans, leading to meaningful changes that meet community needs. Many of our Trustees, board members, team leaders, and volunteers have lived experience of the issues they support. Understanding the pain and family challenges involved, they use their voices to educate and empower vulnerable women. Participants reported feeling less isolated through group activities and experienced improved physical and mental health wellbeing.
