COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

F CHOIR CIC

Company Number: 15343758 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

F*Choir is a values-driven, community-led choir committed to inclusivity, artistic excellence, and social impact. In the financial year 2024, the organisation engaged in a wide range of creative, performance, and community-building activities that significantly benefited its members and the broader public. Throughout the year, F*Choir hosted open sessions, weekenders, fundraising events, rehearsals, and seasonal performances. The choir also developed new repertoire, and continued work on a new website to expand their digital presence. These activities offered accessible cultural engagement to diverse audiences and deepened the choir's artistic practice. The choir's impact on community wellbeing has been profound. In 2024 with over 60 singers and 8 freelance staff members, F*Choir fostered a supportive, non-hierarchical environment that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities, neurodivergence, and difference. A majority of members (95%) identify as LGBTQ+, 90% as neurodivergent or living with disability/chronic illness, and 51% as people of colour. Surveys show that 93% of members experienced increased singing confidence, 86% reported personal growth, and 96% felt a greater sense of community since joining. The retention rate for participants is 86%. F*Choir reinvests 100% of its income into sustaining its operations and social aims. In 2024, the majority of its income supported freelance staff - all of whom are also representative of our target marginalised audiences - ensuring alignment between leadership and community.

Consultation with stakeholders

F*Choir’s stakeholders include regular choir members (approximately 60), open session attendees (150 - 300 annually), audience members (around 1,000 per year), and organisational partners. Regular members are engaged through quarterly Kitchen Table meetings, which function as a community board where key decisions and reflections are tabled and discussed. In addition, all members are invited to participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where they vote on proposed policy changes and constitutional matters. F*Choir’s working groups - covering areas such as access, song culture, gig coordination, and merchandise - are entirely volunteer-led by members, meaning stakeholders are directly involved in shaping the programme and organisational priorities as they are developed. This structure ensures that decision-making is deeply embedded in member leadership and lived experience. Financial governance is transparently reported at the AGM and shared with the wider membership for comment and accountability. Feedback from these consultations is actively integrated into programme planning and operational adjustments. To further support stakeholder voice, F*Choir conducts online impact surveys for regular members, open session participants, and audience members. These surveys help assess the effectiveness of the choir’s activities and identify areas for growth or change. Additionally, partner organisations provide feedback following collaborative projects, which is considered in future planning. Through this layered and inclusive consultation model, F*Choir ensures that its activities remain aligned with the needs and values of its diverse community.

During the period, the directors received remuneration totalling £40,088 for their services in running the CIC as artistic director and managing director.
