Company activities and impact

Cordwainers Grow CIC has been continuing to undertake activities in line with our aims and objectives: 1. To teach people about their environment in engaging and interesting ways. 2 .To bring people together to encourage a sense of community. 3 .To provide a safe, welcoming space for participation and collaboration. 4. To provide opportunities for people to gain skills and knowledge. 5. To promote healthy lifestyles. 6. To promote and encourage volunteering. At Cordwainers Grow, our aims are to creatively and collaboratively connect people with the natural world and the environment around them, helping to develop strong values relating to the preservation, conservation, and regeneration of nature. We teach people about nature and, in doing so, provide opportunities for communities to come together, share ideas, and collaborate. In Hackney, we do this in a number of ways, but our core activity is to support community gardening throughout the borough. We work in partnership with local groups, including community centres, the council, and other voluntary or charitable organisations. Our projects focus on connecting communities with nature and the environment to develop values that promote respect for both people and the planet. This has been achieved through activities such as community workshops where people learn, for example, how to make garden planters from scrap materials, or where children and families learn how to make thread from plants or how to identify plants. We have also run a free, drop-in gardening session every two weeks.
