In 2024, Cricket Arena CIC delivered cricket, football and community sports sessions across Sheffield, focusing on inclusion, health and wellbeing. We worked with over 500 participants, mainly from deprived and diverse communities. Highlights included the Junior Hundred cricket competition, Mini Bash indoor league, football sessions for underrepresented youth, and volunteer training. Our activities helped people stay active, develop skills, and build stronger community links.
Our stakeholders in 2024 included participants, parents, volunteers, community partners, local schools, sports clubs, funders, and local authorities. We consulted these stakeholders through youth forums, community meetings, surveys, social media, and informal feedback at sessions and events. As part of our Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) project, the VRU commissioned independent evaluators, Rocket Science, to produce a written report. This included interviews with participants, parents, staff, partners, and volunteers. Key feedback included the need for more indoor cricket opportunities during winter, more football provision for young people, additional trips, and the creation of a dedicated space for year-round sporting and social activities. In response, we expanded winter cricket sessions and increased football opportunities, and we are actively exploring options for a permanent multi-use community sports space.
Directors did not receive remuneration for their duties as directors. Some directors were paid separately for coaching and delivery work under contractual agreements. Full details are provided in the company’s 2024 accounts under staff costs.
