The centre continues to support beneficiaries of all ages from the local community and further afield. At the year end, the centre employed one local part time member of staff and a student in school holidays. It is also supported by twelve regular volunteers and two students on work placements. Working with local providers, the centre has opened for a minimum of four days each week. Work experience students from Stoke on Trent college continue to assist with the delivery of sessions in support of their course work. The benefit is threefold :- it helps to provide additional support; there is a good, intergenerational exchange between students and members; and students gain experience for their social care course. Along with a variety of craft activities, IT classes for beginners continue to be popular. Through partnership working with various organisations the centre has offered cooking sessions for one using slow cookers. Excercise classes have taken place each week with the support of Nuffield Health. The centre opens for one evening a week, offering a range of crafts which are led by local people.
The company's direction is driven by regular consultation with participants. In 2023/24, consultation with members took place on a regular basis. The methods vary from 1:1 conversations to focus groups from each activity. Face to face consultations were also held with our local community, which included residents, local businesses, partners, parents and young people.
