Saving Threads CIC has voluntarily worked with local Primary Schools and Secondary schools in the Bolton community to promote sustainability, reduce fashion waste and educate younger generations about the impact of ‘fast fashion’ through workshops, presentations and fundraising activities. Saving Threads CIC have also sold donated preloved clothing at numerous table top sales including car boot sales and Baby Boutique Sales across Bolton, as well as Facebook Marketplace and eBay. Profits from these sales have been donated; beneficiaries of these charitable donations include local non-profit registered charities in the Bolton area, as well as local community groups to help others in need, for example Food Banks – Urban Outreach. Saving Threads CIC have also worked with local registered charities to distribute donations of clothing and shoes to those in need, as well as hosting a Pay What You Can Sale to help families to escape poverty yet still clothe their families. Saving Threads CIC now has a “Uniform Fairy” where we direct any school uniforms that are donated to Saving Threads CIC and rehome the school uniform items for free to those in our local community. We work in partnership with the UCAN centres and Bolton CVS to ensure that we are reaching the families most in need.
