The Sonic Space undertook two main projects throughout this year: Foot in the Door - a community based youth music programme that empowered young musicians to experience a live performance opportunity. This experience provided them with the notion of planning, promoting and prepping for a live gig along with securing them a high quality, digitally mastered recording of their performance enabling them to progress to wide opportunities. The programme was also designed to encourage 15-24 year olds to attend the music evenings, encouraging a great support for live music venues and performers, nurture a sense of belonging to their local community and creating a safe space in which they could go out, meet with friends and develop their music and arts knowledge. A separate programme provided a music-based youth group for young people aged 15-18 living with neurodiversity and other anxiety-based challenges to alleviate some tension through the medium of music through performance, discussing or simply listening to music.
