Warm Baby Project CIC: Annual Report on Community Benefits and Support Overview This year has been one of growth, connection, and continued dedication to supporting families across the UK. The Warm Baby Project CIC has worked tirelessly to provide warm knitted clothing, blankets, and other essentials to babies and young children whose families are facing financial hardship, cold homes, or energy insecurity. Our work continues to bring people together from local community hubs to knitting groups hundreds of miles away creating a network of care that spans the country. With the support of new funding, we are also creating a brand-new website to make it easier for families, hospitals, and volunteers to connect with our services, request items, and join our nationwide knitting community. Key Achievements Warm Clothing for Families in Need Impact: Hundreds of families in financial hardship have received high-quality, hand-knitted winter clothing for babies and children up to seven years old. Distribution: Clothing has been given out through our baby bank, community centres, playgroups, and weekly coffee mornings, where families not only receive practical help but also enjoy a welcoming, supportive space. Support for Hospitals Nationwide Special Care Baby Units and Maternity Wards: We have continued to provide blankets and hats for premature babies in SCBUs across the country, as well as maternity wards in both local and distant hospitals. Impact: These donations have offered comfort, warmth, and reassurance to parents during some of the most vulnerable moments in their babies’ lives. Expanded Baby Bank Services Our baby bank has remained a lifeline for families, stocked with warm knitted items for children up to age seven. Volunteers have taken items directly into the community, ensuring that families who cannot attend in person still receive what they need. Knitting Communities from Coast to Coast Nationwide Support: This year, knitting groups from across the country have joined forces to make and send hats, blankets, and jumpers to our baby bank. Inclusion and Materials: We have continued to collect and distribute donated wool so that anyone who wants to knit for the project can do so, regardless of their own financial situation. Social Impact: Knitters report improved mental well-being, a greater sense of purpose, and strong friendships forged through their involvement. Direct Postal Support to Families We have maintained our postal service for families in hardship who contact us from anywhere in the UK. This has ensured that distance is no barrier to receiving warm, essential clothing for babies and young children. Wool Collection and Sustainability Wool donations have been gathered and redistributed both locally and nationally, reducing waste and enabling more volunteers to participate. Looking Ahead The Warm Baby Project CIC has once again demonstrated the powerful impact of community-led action. In the year ahead, the launch of our new website will make it easier than ever to connect knitters, baby banks, hospitals, and families in need. Together, from local coffee mornings to knitting circles hundreds of miles away, we will continue to wrap babies in warmth and communities in care.
