We provide a range of services to people aged 50 and over. Service users participated in a variety of activities and events including meals out, games, dominoes, bingo, sewing, birthday and cultural celebrations; wellbeing calls and befriending visits in own home, supported accommodation and nursing homes; support to attend medical and social appointments; help with shopping and domestics; information, advice, guidance, referrals and advocacy; support to complete forms and read letters, etc. We also work in partnership/collaboration with other community groups to meet and extend the support and services on offer. Service users stated that they enjoy going to the group, everyone is friendly and treat each other like family, they feel less lonely and isolated and looks forward to attending the group and interacting with their peers every week. The users who receive calls and/or visits also states they feel less lonely and more connected to their community. Service users in nursing/care homes also looks forward to visits as some do not have any family or friends or they don’t have anyone that lives close to them, so are happy when they receive visits and have someone advocate on their behalf and allow them to connect with loved ones via social media platforms.
The company’s stakeholders are residents aged 50 and over, living in the Wolverhampton area requiring support, also their families and carers, health and social care providers and other community groups and organisations providing support to this targeted group. We regularly seek feedback on the services and activities provided and what services members would like us to provide. This is done verbally and via questionnaires. We also seek feedback and network with other organisations, community groups, churches and health and social care professionals to share ideas on how to provide or improve services to the community. We have increased activities and arranged events, trips and outings as a result of feedback received.
