During the financial year 2024 2025, Climate Cartographics has continued to pursue projects under the agenda of climatic and environmental design research services, clients and communities. Design Collaboration: Environmental mapping for urban planning with Space Syntax LTD. Baseline mapping of climate and geophysical environmental factors to support and inform the sustainable design and expansion of an urban metropolitan area. Location and project details confidential. Impact being better and more resilient climatic design for those in the area. Commission: The Rights of Nature, A global map of ‘Rights of Nature’ initiatives, where natural entities are recognised or under consideration for independent legal status. 2025 Published and exhibited 2024 ‘Nature of Hope’ the 11th edition of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam IABR. Exhibitions 2025 Interspecies Museum of Contemporary Art MAC at the Centro Cultural de Belem CCB, Lisbon. 2024 Journal of Maps, 21 1. SBRI Grant: Coalfields Regeneration, Welsh Government, South Vallys region Our SBRI Coalfields Regeneration Grant Proposal targets the revitalisation of post-industrial coalfield sites across the South Wales Valleys. This proposal outlines an innovative approach that harnesses advanced geospatial analysis, robust data integration, and active community engagement to unlock regeneration opportunities in areas facing socio-economic and environmental challenges. By synthesising environmental, demographic, and policy data, we aim to develop a scoping tool that assesses the viability and potential of over 2,500 coalfield sites. The project is designed not only to address immediate safety and development concerns but also to establish a scalable model for sustainable, long-term regional transformation. Our cost-effective, evidence-based strategy promises to enhance public infrastructure, foster economic growth, and improve overall community well-being.
Using the Wales Coalfields Regeneration as an example. A stakeholder workshop was undertaken with community members, local governance and other NGO groups in Tylors Town in the valleys to engage stakeholders on the proposal and development. A full-day workshop consisted of presentations and a round table discussion of small mixed groups of stakeholders. Comments and insights were recorded. In response, design considerations around the communications, aesthetics, messaging, functions and features needed were taken into the following stages of design development. The rights of nature map has gained wide publication opportunities internationally, with 10’s of thousands of people visiting each exhibition. However, direct feedback from visitors as to its communications and impact could not be gained, given the overseas locations. Other professional and informal networking activities have been undertaken with leaders in the wider industry as well as other NGO’s and governmental departments. This has further informed the direction and agenda of Climate Cartographics and the opportunities we seek.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £47,000 There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
