Makusha CIC provides healthcare to prisoners from reception health checks on arrival and ongoing healthcare during the prisoner’s stay in custody. Makusha CIC is part of primary care looking after prisoners providing the following: 1. Reception screening (wholistic assessment of prisoners current and historical medical conditions to ensure continuity of care from community/prison to prison) 2. Emergency response (Code Blue and Code red episodes where the prisoner is in a medical crisis) 3. Long term conditions management 4. Planned care (e.g. running clinics) 5. Enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services 6. Health promotion activities Makusha CIC was dormant for the period between 21 November 2023 to 21 November 2024 due to some operational huddles.
