Year Ending: 31 January 2025

Company activities and impact

During the reporting year, the Travel Things Museum CIC continued to deliver its mission of fostering cultural exchange and community benefit through creative programming, international collaboration, and education. -International Exchange & Cultural Collaboration With the support of Turing Scheme funding, we successfully hosted an event in Taipei, Taiwan, enabling participants to experience cross-cultural dialogue and develop creative skills in a global setting. This opportunity strengthened relationships between UK-based practitioners and international partners, broadening access to new perspectives and ideas. -Support for Professional Development We worked closely with international masterplan architecture companies in Tbilisi, the UAE, and Egypt, providing cultural insights and creative consultation that contributed to their development projects. By doing so, we encouraged the integration of community-focused and culturally sensitive approaches into large-scale urban design initiatives. -Educational Outreach The museum engaged in academic outreach, including delivering a talk at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). This provided students with direct access to professional practice, international perspectives, and the value of travel-inspired cultural research, supporting the next generation of creatives in their educational journeys. -Public Exhibition – London Design Festival 2025 As part of the London Design Festival 2025, we curated and hosted Weird and Wonderful Things from Around the World at the Tea Building in Shoreditch, London. This public exhibition welcomed a wide audience and featured international collaboration with creative partners from Cyprus, Rotterdam, the USA, and Cardiff (Wales). The event celebrated diversity, travel, and shared human experiences through objects and stories, fostering inclusivity and dialogue within the local community and among international visitors. Community Benefit Through these activities, the Travel Things Museum CIC has contributed to community benefit by: -Expanding cultural understanding and exchange between the UK and international communities. -Supporting young people, students, and professionals in creative fields through access to global opportunities. -Championing inclusive dialogue on the importance of everyday objects, cultural identity, and design in shaping shared futures. -Offering free public access to exhibitions that encourage curiosity, participation, and cultural learning.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Travel Things Museum CIC actively seeks input from a wide range of stakeholders, including: -Community Audiences – feedback gathered at public exhibitions and events. -Academic Partners – collaboration with universities such as UCA ensures our programming supports student learning. -International Partners – ongoing dialogue with creative collaborators in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East shapes project delivery. -Funders & Supporters – including Turing Scheme representatives, who we consult to align outcomes with community benefit. Feedback is collected informally at events, through social media engagement, and via partner conversations, and is integrated into future planning.
