  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises the invoiced value of goods and services supplied by the company plus grants received, net of Value Added Tax (where VAT registered) and trade discounts.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, are stated at cost or valuation less depreciation and any provision for impairment. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost or valuation of fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following basis: Plant and Machinery 25% Reducing Balance Motor Vehicles 15% Reducing Balance Computer Equipment 25% Straight Line

Company activities and impact

Seed of Hope CIC has continued to provide weekly Social and Therapeutic gardening groups in community green spaces across Somerset. We have groups in Watchet/Williton, Bridgewater, Chilton Polden, and Street. Our group do mental health differently - we are recovery based and this means living a satisfying, hopeful and contributing life even with mental health problems. We have around 30 members who attend regularly. Our Therapeutic activities are supported financially by our trading income. We have an active sales arm trading our Seeds of Hope amongst other products online in bricks and mortar stores and at local events. Also our commercial gardening arm across Somerset and part of Dorset. All of these activities provide opportunities for our participants to learn and train.

Consultation with stakeholders

We meet at least twice a year with our members and invite all those organisations that we work alongside to join us. We have increased our presence in West Somerset as a result of feedback.

Directors' remuneration

£44,687 has been paid in directors' remuneration.
