COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

COLCHESTER LIFE IN THE UK CIC

Company Number: 11669831 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2024

Company activities and impact

During the period 1st December 2023 to 30th November 2024, Colchester Life in The UK CIC continued to deliver and develop a range of community-based pro-jects aimed at supporting BAME families and other residents in Colchester and, to a lesser extent, Clacton. The organisation mobilised volunteers, contracted teachers, and external experts to deliver educational, physical, social, and signposting services. We broadened engagement through community events, training, and collaborative activities with local groups and services to improve information access, well-being, and belonging for diverse families. A key development this year was the distribution of computer laptops and data support sourced from the NEE DAST project, enhancing access to online learning for children and digital connectivity for BAME families we serve. We also deepened collaboration with other community organisations to plan, coordinate, and deliver events, workshops, and activities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our CIC engages a broad range of stakeholders to ensure accountability, inclusivity, and measurable community impact. Beneficiaries – Primarily BAME residents in Colchester, including refugees, asylum seekers, families, carers, children, and elders. Partners – Local schools, universities, community groups, cultural and faith organisations, Colchester Borough Council, other CICs and charities, and local businesses. Funders – Trusts, foundations, statutory funding bodies, corporate sponsors, and individual donors. Workforce – Volunteers, tutors, facilitators, mentors, contracted staff, and specialist consultants. Governance and Accountability – Independent advisers, auditors, safeguarding officers, and advisory groups. Engagement and Improvement – Ongoing communication through forums, surveys, and feedback, with evaluation at the end of funding periods. Safeguarding and Data – Strong safeguarding and data protection practices, with confidentiality and transparency maintained.
