COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

NISTAWI WOMEN CIC

Company Number: 15823745 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

During this financial year, Nistawi Women CIC has continued to deliver impactful projects aimed at empowering women, children, and families from African, Caribbean, and other minority ethnic backgrounds who experience racial and gender inequality. Our activities focused on promoting equality, improving well-being, and supporting access to education, employment, and community opportunities. We delivered a range of initiatives, including: Awareness and Advocacy: Conducted workshops and community campaigns on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) prevention, domestic abuse awareness, and safeguarding. Health and Well-being Support: Organized fitness, movement, and mental health sessions to reduce isolation and improve overall well-being. Education and Skills Development: Provided training in digital literacy, employability, and leadership to increase access to opportunities and reduce barriers to employment. These activities have significantly benefited the community by: Increasing awareness and understanding of harmful practices, leading to improved safeguarding of women and girls. Enhancing digital, educational, and employability skills, helping participants progress into training or employment. Reducing social isolation through peer support and cultural activities, improving mental health and community cohesion. Empowering women and families to actively participate in society and make informed choices about their lives. Our work this year has helped build resilience, confidence, and opportunities for marginalized communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have engaged stakeholders through: Community forums and focus groups to gather feedback on service needs and emerging issues. Surveys and questionnaires distributed at events and through digital platforms to assess the effectiveness of our programs. One-to-one consultations and feedback sessions with service users, particularly women accessing our support services. Partnership meetings with local organizations and statutory bodies to ensure our services complement existing provision. Actions taken in response to feedback: Based on community feedback highlighting the need for mental health support, we introduced well-being and fitness sessions alongside our educational programs. After requests for digital skills training, we delivered digital literacy workshops to improve employability and access to online resources. In response to concerns about cultural stigma around gender-based violence, we tailored our awareness campaigns to be culturally sensitive and involved community champions. To address barriers to participation, such as childcare, we implemented flexible scheduling and created family-friendly spaces for events.
