Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 December 2024 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    The turnover shown in the profit and loss account represents revenue recognised by the company in respect of goods and services supplied during the period, exclusive of Value Added Tax and trade discounts.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets and depreciation Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives: 33.33% on straight line basis.

Company activities and impact

Activities are as follows which accommodate up to 30 children with special educational needs and disabilities plus siblings and about 35-families [up to 70 individuals per year]: 1) Parent support group, family advocacy including trainings: Regular Parent tea sessions – share experiences, discussions on selected topics, share concerns and challenges, trainings, referrals, advice and signposting to services; as a result of these sessions parents/carers feel less isolated, they have been heard and get an opportunity to make friends. 2) Social events and activities for children: Family swim at Leisure world (13/01), Jumpstreet (20/01), Holiday Climbing session for 2 groups of children at Climbing project (22/2 and 23/2); Colchester Zoo, Maldon Rd, Stanway (16/3), Easter Craft activity at Hythe Community centre (5/4), Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife park (11/4), Swimming pool (Leisure World) (15/6), Wheels For All, Northern Gateway (22/6), Strawberry picking at McLauchlans (6/7), Maldon Day Out, Maldon Splash park at Maldon (27/7), Lunch at Highwoods Country Park (2/8), Colchester Zoo trip (7/8), Arts and crafts class at Hythe community centre (14/8), Air hop (trampoline park) (21/8), Cudmore Grove Playground Play & snacks (28/8), Airhop Open jump session (18/9), Airhop Open jump session (25/9), Airhop Open jump session (9/10), Boonie Bears: Time Twist (Relaxed) at Firstsite (19/10), Airhop Open jump session at Airhop (23/10), Arts and crafts class at Colchester Hub (30/10); Airhop Open jump session at Airhop (13/11), Glow Christmas lights at Hyde Hall (23/11), Airhop Open jump session at Airhop (27/11), Airhop Open jump session at Airhop (11/12), Epping Ongar Lights Express (13/12); The Epping Ongar Lights Express, Airhop Open jump session at Airhop (17/12), Festive stay and play with arts, crafts, snacks, music and Christmas presents at the Hythe community centre (18/12). We took part and had our stall to introduce the work we do at the following events: Lawrence Walker Awards & Cancer Awareness Event (Oct.24) at Lawrence Walker gallery in Priory Walk, events for parents at St. John’s Green primary school; collaboration with the University College London on autism research on sensory masking; University of Southampton on SEND friendly online platforms development; a project on ADHD and mental health in young people 11-14 y.o. by University of Edinburgh; Social work students from the University of Essex. 3) Trips & Visits to places of interest: A trip to Colchester Zoo, Circus Star Show at the Charter Hall at Leisure World, Colchester Climbing project, Family Swim at Leisure World, regular sessions at Jumpstreet, now called Airhop, Go bananas, Alpaca farm visit, picnics at Highwoods park, Colchester Castle park, visit to Boxted farm for berries picking, Madlon Day Out at Maldon Splash park at Maldon, visit to Gudmore Grove, Jimmy’s farm. 4) Parent training and development workshops and programmes: Parent tea session on Education and personal budget with MAZE (16/2), Parent tea session, Review of Education, Health, Care Plans (EHCPs) (8/3), Parent tea session with Maze, Review of EHCP (26/4), Training “We are all safe guarders. Our role as a community in keeping our children safe” (on Zoom) (3/5), Parent tea session, Jo Keys, Lead Community Liaison from Autism Anglia “Transition to puberty - how parents can support children through this period and what services can provide more advice and support” at Hythe Community center (17/5), Family forest school at Great Notley Country Park (18/5); Parent tea session – meeting with NHS partners (12/7), Parent tea session, Review of EHCP (28/6), Parent tea session, discussion on “Challenging behavior” and SEN related questions at Colchester library (11/10); Parent tea session Family Coordinator DTC, will present information on Education for special needs children (25/10); Regular meetings with Essex Family Forum to share families’ feedback, ongoing challenges, difficulties accessing local services for their further submission to decision makers. 5) Health sessions e.g. counselling (referral service), Parents/carers can share their challenges, we refer them to specialist services. 6) Sports and exercise: We collaborate with Ability for Sport CIC and Sport for Confidence for delivering our regular weekly sport sessions for families (every Wednesday evening for 1.5 hours). 7) Themed Art and crafts classes – Easter crafts, free expression art classes, sensory bottle making, colouring of paper animals, etc. 8) Festive sensory stay and play in December at Hythe community centre, in Colchester, Essex (arts, crafts, games, music and snacks provided) 9) Transport. 10)Refurbished computers, phones (as provided by funding organisations). 11)Food bags and winter essentials (scarves and hats, blankets, hot water bottles) 12)Fund-raising events. Outputs: We have helped up to 300 families in various ways – advice, distribution of sensory toys, refurbished computers, referred them to other organisations and specialist services, shared information, provided food bags, presents for birthdays, transport, activities, parent tea sessions, referrals, help make friends in similar life circumstances, provided trainings, organised family trips and outings, invited professionals to find answers on families’ daily challenges around education, challenging behavior, diet and much more.

Consultation with stakeholders

1. Board Member meetings – quarterly. 2. Consultations with the Company’ secretary – every two months. 3. Funders - Monitoring report after each project. 4. Service users (BAME families with children with Special educational needs and disabilities) - Project review and evaluation taken at the end of each project; we run surveys . and disseminate questionnaires to update clients’ views, interests and wishes regularly.
