Futur.Shock Community Benefit Statement Financial Year XXX During this financial year, Futur.Shock has delivered significant benefits to Newham and the wider creative community. We supported a large number of emerging and established artists from marginalised backgrounds, particularly FLINTA and queer communities. We have provided fair-paid opportunities (in line with Musicians’ Union guidelines) to perform within a high-spec club environment for high-profile, sell-out audiences. These opportunities have fostered networking, career progression, and collaboration. We partnered with institutions such as UCL’s MA Design for Performance and Interaction, enabling students to create a large-scale, site-specific installation with FOLD for Futur.Shock, directly contributing to their final grades. Learning initiatives have supported Newham students and underrepresented groups to develop skills in live performance and music production, kick-starting careers in the arts. Futur.Shock collaborated with grassroots platforms sharing our ethos, delivering workshops, performance programmes, mentoring sessions, and paid roles for artists, engineers, producers, teachers, and other freelance workers across the music and arts sectors. These community-based events drew large, diverse audiences, and many participating artists have since secured major opportunities, significantly advancing their careers. Our activities have strengthened Newham’s cultural ecosystem, nurtured local talent, and enhanced multidisciplinary audiences’ access to innovative, inclusive, and high-quality arts experiences.
