COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THIS LIVING PLACE CIC

Year Ending: 31 January 2025

Company activities and impact

This Living Place CIC strengthens relationships between people, place, and ecosystems. Between January 2024 and January 2025, we delivered a range of activities supporting community resilience, local regeneration, and collaboration across Dorset, Somerset, and nationally. Highlights included coordinating Dorset Retrofit Reimagined (reaching 17000 plus people), supporting Sustainable Dorset’s strategic communications, hosting peer gatherings for female landworkers, and co-designing Dorset COP and the Transition Assembly. We launched the Living Places Network, connecting place-based organisers across the UK, and participated in community events, Repair Cafes, and storytelling projects. Our work helped local communities and changemakers build relationships, share learning, and access opportunities for low-carbon, community-led futures.

Consultation with stakeholders

TLP’s stakeholders include local residents, grassroots organisers, landworkers, community groups, local authorities, funders, and systems change partners. Between Jan 2024–Jan 2025, we undertook over 400 hours of consultation through events, 1:1s, community mapping, and collaborative design. Feedback directly shaped projects: landworker gatherings responded to isolation and burnout; sustainable textile workshops emerged from concern about lost heritage skills; and public map-making addressed feelings of disconnection. We co-designed Dorset COP in response to calls for more inclusive, participatory climate spaces. Our consultation is relational and embedded, mostly face-face dialogue, both with individuals and groups of stakeholders. We prioritise co-creation over top-down planning, and in 2025 we aim to share our methods more widely to support others building place-based, community-led change.

Directors' remuneration

One director received remuneration of £14,802 during the year in the form of salary, as the company’s sole employee.
