Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 June 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable and represents amounts receivable for goods supplied and services rendered.

    Other accounting policies

Income Tax The taxation expense represents the aggregate amount of current and deferred tax recognised in the reporting period. Tax is recognised in profit or loss, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. In this case, tax is recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, respectively. Current tax is recognised on taxable profit for the current and past periods. Current tax is measured at the amounts of tax expected to pay or recover using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted at the reporting date. Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences at the reporting date. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. Deferred tax is measured using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Financial Instruments A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the entity becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the transaction price, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where it is recognised at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument. Debt instruments are subsequently measured at amortised cost.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DAISY ARTS (NE) CIC

Company Number: 12658772 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2025

Company activities and impact

Daisy Arts delivers high-quality creative opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, using a wide range of art forms to encourage self-expression, learning, well-being and stronger community connections. Our programmes are designed to inspire individuals and bring people together, supporting both personal development and wider community growth. We work with experienced freelance artists who are specialists in their fields and skilled in engaging the public. This enables us to offer a rich and diverse programme of artistic and cultural activities, including theatre, visual arts, film, music and more. Our approach not only provides local people with opportunities for creative participation but also sustains professional artists within society. The organisation is rooted in one of the most disadvantaged areas of County Durham - a community that faces significant challenges around poverty, unemployment and social deprivation, across both rural and urban settings. Throughout this financial year, our mission has remained consistent: to collaborate with schools, local groups, statutory services, community organisations and artists to co-create projects that matter. Some of our programmes are initiated by Daisy Arts with funding from a range of supporters, while others are developed in partnership with local organisations, ensuring our work responds directly to community needs.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include the grant-making bodies that support our work, commissioning organisations, local community groups and schools, participants in our projects, members of the public attending our programmes, our Board of Directors, our freelance artist network and the young leaders who have grown through our activities. Engagement with stakeholders is central to how we operate. We actively consult at every stage of project development and delivery, ensuring that feedback directly influences our practice. This includes regular evaluation and reflection with participants and partners, as well as ongoing conversations with artists, directors, and community representatives. Their perspectives guide the shape and content of our work. Daisy Arts continually reflects on its delivery to maintain high-quality standards and ensure our work responds to community need. Input from stakeholders not only informs the refinement of current projects but also plays a significant role in shaping new initiatives. Where projects originate from stakeholder consultation, we evidence this within funding applications. Our directors meet regularly to review plans and incorporate community voices into decision-making. Freelance artists and associate practitioners contribute ideas and support our shared objectives, while young leaders provide valuable insights into approaches and priorities, helping to keep our work relevant, innovative and inclusive.
