CafesideMTB CIC has continued to work with Forestry England in it’s aim of acquiring a long-term lease for Chalet Woods, allowing us to protect the existing mountain bike trails found there and run the site as an official mountain bike park. This will benefit the local mountain bike community by providing unique facilities and trails within the area, encouraging healthy activity and bringing the mountain bike community together to establish new trails, features, and guide the future of the site once re-opened. The lease is now with both parties solicitors, and we are confident that we should have this agreed and signed before the end of 2025. CafesideMTB CIC continues to work with local planning consultants to ensure that the appropriate planning permissions are sought and granted for the trails and facilities. CafesideMTB CIC has continued to maintain the trails within Chalet Woods in an ecologically sensitive manner (working within guidelines provided by their ecologists and Forestry England) to prepare them for riding when the site re-opens once the lease has been acquired. CafesideMTB CIC has established a code of conduct in order to ensure that all site users (mountain bikers, walkers, dog walkers, horse riders etc.) can make continued use of the site, whilst reducing the potential for conflict between different site users. This will benefit the local community that makes use of the open-access woodland within Chalet Woods for a wide variety of uses and ensure that they can continue to do so in a safe and welcoming environment going forwards.
CafesideMTB hosted Fundraisers and community engagement events with Mountain Bikers and other site users to discuss our current situation, work in progress and future plans. Cafeside MTB CIC is working closely with Forestry England on the lease, ecology and site management / KPIs to ensure that the Challet Woods site is run in a professional manner to the satisfaction of both parties. CafesideMTB CIC is working with a local planning consultancy to ensure that the required planning permissions are sought and obtained for the Chalet Woods site from the local planning authority. CafesideMTB has met with the local planning council and parish council to discuss the proposed use of the site and our planning applications.
