Basis of preparing the financial statements
Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.
Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at fair value at regular intervals less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.
Patents and licences are being amortised evenly over their estimated useful life of ten years.
Financial instruments
The company only enters into basic financial transactions that result in the recognition of financial assets and liabilities like cash and bank balances, trade and other debtors and creditors, loans from banks and other third parties and investments in non-puttable ordinary shares.
Financial assets that are measured at cost and amortised cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found, an impairment loss is recognised in profit and loss.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset and the net amount reported in the Balance Sheet when there is an enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
A deferred tax liability has been recognised in respect of the revaluation of intangible fixed assets. The deferred tax has been calculated at the tax rate expected to apply when the timing differences reverse.

Fair value measurement
We apply fair value accounting for assets and liabilities that are recognized or disclosed at fair value in the financial statements on a recurring basis. We define fair value as the price that would be received from selling an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date. When determining the fair value measurements for assets and liabilities which are required to be recorded at fair value, we consider the principal or most advantageous market in which we would transact and the market-based risk measurements or assumptions that market participants would use in pricing the asset or liability, such as risks inherent in valuation techniques, transfer restrictions and credit risks
.
We determine the fair value while observing quoted prices in active markets for identical assets or liabilities in active markets and quoted prices for identical or similar assets or liabilities in markets that are not active.
We also consider unobservable inputs that are supported by little or no market activity and that are significant to the fair value of the underlying asset or liability. Fair value measurements are determined using pricing models, discounted cash flow methodologies or similar valuation techniques and significant management judgment or estimation.
