Company activities and impact

Northern Community Power (NCP) has continued to develop and build relationships with community groups in North Tyneside, providing energy efficiency advice and promoting community-owned renewable energy, with the aim of reducing energy costs for households and community groups. Through those activities NCP has continued work towards the longer-term goals of using renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions and develop community energy with income that benefits local communities, similar to models operating successfully elsewhere in the UK. With grant funding from North-East &Yorkshire Net Zero Hub a study of the feasibility of installing solar panels on an industrial roof-space in North Tyneside was commenced, which continued beyond the end of the reporting year.

Consultation with stakeholders

Discussions and information exchanges with community groups in North East England, NEY NZH, Community Energy England, Co-operatives UK, community energy organisations in East Sussex and Grimsby, owners and operators of industrial sites in North Tyneside.
