The Company was formed to take over organisation and operation of the annual one day rowing racing event known as Bedford Amateur Regatta (Established in 1853) from Bedford Regatta Committee with effect from 1st January 2019. This report confirms that another successful annual Bedford Regatta took place on Saturday 11th May 2024 ...the 159th . We had a full days race entry across a range of crew statuses comprised of Eights and Fours from a national cross section of Schools, Colleges, Universities , and Rowing Clubs. With our range of supporters and officials principally from the local rowing community side by side race operation ran smoothly. Fine weather was welcomed and added to the public spectacle along the 1200 metre course through the Centre of Town and along the renowned Embankment. Financially the 2024 Accounts reflect a positive surplus of £1372 before Corportaion Tax,
As normal considerable planning for the event was undertaken requiring active contact with stakeholders as follows :- - Bedford Borough Council re event health and safety issues plus usage of public areas along the river 1200 metre course and more particularly the Regatta base set up on meadows near the Suspension Bridge /Finish Line, -British Rowing Organisation under whose auspices/rules the event is operated and to whom we are affiliated. -The local and whole broader rowing community (Clubs and Schools) who provide competitors, umpires, marshals, and helpers. - The event is advertised across the Town and the Public and Visitors have full and free access to view racing on the Course.
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
