The C-I-C has organised a monthly Farmers' Market in the centre of the community of Moseley in Birmingham for the last 25 years, winning Best Farmers' Market three times. It enables the community to access fresh, good quality, healthy food produced by farmers operating within 50 miles of Birmingham. It provides a meeting place for residents and also draws people into the community from elsewhere in the city and thus benefits the owners of other shops in the area. Its surplus funds are devoted to community benefit, providing a large Christmas tree on the village green with a fine display of lights each year and making grants to community activities when funds are available (not in 2024).
Birmingham City Council both issues a Market Licence and an order for Road Closure. The C-I-C is in constant communication with city officials to enable the regular existence of the market. The market would not exist if the farmers who rent stalls were not satisfied with the quality of the administration provided by the C-I-C. Any concerns are always listened to and where necessary, promptly dealt with.
