Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 January 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

The directors have chosen not to file a copy of the company's profit and loss account.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Revenue represents advertising revenue and donations. Revenue is recognised to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the Company and the revenue can be reliably measured. Revenue is measured as the fair value of the consideration received, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. Income is only recognised if the magazine it relates to has been issued during the period.

Company activities and impact

Gorleston Community Magazine CIC has provided a regular hard copy magazine free of charge to local residents in Gorleston-on-Sea. This has given access to local information and news for local people, many of whom are isolated or digitally excluded. It has also given the opportunity to local people to develop and share their skills through contributions to the publications.

Consultation with stakeholders

Informal consultation has taken place through encouraging local residents to share their thoughts and opinions with the magazine’s editorial team. This has been responded to by incorporating resident content and suggestions into the magazine.
