We've provided music and presenters at more than 25 local events including several school fetes and fayres, the Burgess Hill and Hayward's Heath Marathons, the Burgess Hill Bike Ride, 'Party in the Park' in St John's Park, Burgess Hill, Woodlands Meed School Fireworks and the six weekends leading up to Christmas we provided space in our studio premises for the local Lions Club's Santa Grotto, helping to raise more than £1600 for a special needs school in our town. We have continued to build on our strong links with local schools, including special needs schools and provided students with studio facilities to enable them to make broadcasts. Our hourly on-air Events Guide has mentioned more than 250 local events over a wide range of subjects and in many cases we have recorded 'promos' for broadcast to promote events still further. All of these 'promos' have been at no charge to charities and not-for-profit groups. We have trained seven radio presenters mostly from completely new to radio although one trainee had some experience of Hospital Radio. We continue to be approached by new volunteers and have several potential radio stars waiting for training courses.
We are located in a shop unit within the town's shopping precinct and the public are actively encouraged to come in to our reception area and drop off information about local events and give feedback. There are large windows between the reception area and the studios, and members of the public are encouraged to watch our team at work producing and presenting a radio show. The radio station has an 'open door' policy and we offer opportunities for anyone to broadcast (subject to certain terms and conditions to comply with Ofcom guidelines). Many people have requested air time to promote their charity event or similar and we have responded with invitations for interviews, the recording and subsequent broadcast of promotional trails for the forthcoming events, which are repeated at intervals up until the event takes place. Generally, feedback has been positive and we have doubled our social media 'page likes'. Any negative comments have been addressed and, where appropriate, we have made changes to our programming to better reflect the expectations of our listeners
